My answer would be yes, one way or the other.. its going to end.. either through war.. or through dialogue.. If dialogue is going to fail.. down the lane we are gonna end up fighting a war.. and when majority of our population pershises there wont be any people to raise kashmir.. or water... in either sides of the border.. so problems would automatically get solved right :D

Again, not disputing your own personal thoughts / experience, but my own experience is different. Its easier for me to be friends with Pakistanis than with someone from rural south India or East india (I'n not even north indian). Am I saying we are the same, no, but I am saying we are made up of different people, hence its possible that for some the 'closeness' may transcend national boundaries.

Maybe because India is more diverse than Pakistan, we think differently, or are compelled to to survive. Just a thought.

I also know Pakistanis who think we are the same but say they will never say that in front of their families and friends because people will not like it, its just an opinion, and a harmless one, isn't it?

I haven't really been exposed to Indians much or their culture so its really hard for me on a personal level to understand the different sub-cultures within the Indian society.

Hey if that's how you feel then you can't change that. You seem like a top block and i personally see no reason why a Pakistani wouldn't mind hanging out with you. Well if a Pakistani thinks the same as you and doesn't admit it because of peer pressure then that's pretty sad.

personally speaking i dont see it happening in the near future...just by being in this forum u can see the hatred even between educated young generation on both sides...what really surprised me is the misconception of india by some pakistanis (from some who even after visiting india) who considers all indians as hindus who r after muslim blood.. i am sure all indians here will agree that the vast majority of indians of all religions are deeply upset and ashamed by the babri gujarat sikh and kandhamal incidents...but end of the day india pak relations ends up as hindu muslim issue.... without naming anyone there are even old generation guys writing india bashing blogs and post it here...they always choose to ignore the good things about pakistan and india..how can we have peace when old and young generation behaves like this...i am not blaming pakistanis alone..we have similar people in india too..

Thanks mate for your kind words. But you should visit Dubai, where I'm located right now. Here Indians and Pakistanis work together in practically all offices, and many do hang out after office too.

We even end up discussing painful issues like kashmir etc too at times and it remains civil. After all, even when we are not the same, the similarities can not be denied, so its easy to mingle.

i agree !!! i agree !!! i agree !!!

on ur other point i still have hope - raju we are just the second generation after partition our kids will not have as much hatred (hopefully) and our grandchildren would not care abt it...PROVIDED we the educated lot do not feed their brains with *****...

That's nice to hear, I've visited Dubai and the stories I've heard of poor condition that Pakistani workers work in when i was there made me depressed. You see a beautiful building like the Burj-Al-Arab and think to yourself damn this is a beauty to behold but then reality sinks in and you start to ask yourself the amount of Pakistanis that worked day/night in inhumane conditions just do build it which totally ruins the experience. Due to that I doubt i will ever be going Dubai anytime soon despite it being an asian city with a western feel to it.

thats y i said i was surprised at the educated lot talking in a language that i or any indian i know wouldnt use..i grew up in an area in india where there were so many muslims and we used to wait for eid and ramzaan cos we celebrated all together and it still goes on today th exact same way it was 25 years ago..so what really pisses me off is if these new generation pakistanis who dont see the religious harmony in our country and keeps blaming a nation of over a billion people for riots in one part of the country which never spread to any other parts (referring gujarat, bombay and kandhamal) how can we have peace

just for the record the first mosque in indian subcontinent built in 629AD is still standing there but these guys wont see that... it takes few idiots to bring a mosque down but a lot more to protect it..if u just drive from the south of kerala to the north u can see all these mosques, churches and temples and in most places within meters apart!!!

the day pakistanis choose to see these things we MIGHT have peace.... but i am not optimistic :no::no:

arre in the end u dissapoint me...why are u not optimistic...if u are not positive ur kids wont be...i dont hope for our today to be peaceful...i hope tomorrow what we leave for our kids to be peaceful...

on a seperate note in blr there is a place called shivaji nagar - that is a muslim dominated area...but middle of that place is standing a very very old and famous church...that is what india represents...

Unfortunatly no i suppose, maybe in the long run inshallah, we really could do without this conlifct, both of us, but i dont see it happening in the near future. Why?

KASHMIR:

For pakistanis, pakistan isnt complete without kashmir, hey mate we dont have our K. Also the rivers starting in Kashmir as well as the common bond we have with the Kashmiri people (ethnic, religious, cultural) will ensure that as long as the Kashmir issue isnt resolved there wont be any peace

As for indians. Kashmir is obviously a matter of pride for them now. No political party wanting to get elected again will ever comprimise on Kashmir. Also giving up on Kashmir would encourage other dissident rebels inside India whether they be Assamese, Marxists etc hence for India as well solving the Kashmir issue is difficult

Thus at the end since both sides cant give up anything on Kashmir the likelyhood of peace between the two is quite minimal. But we can always hope :)

i am not optimistic cos my kids wont be negative to pakistan but not sure abt pakistani kids (( seeing the pakistani relies in this form)) .i never was and never was brought up to think that other religions r bad.. i am sure u know that we learn in our history abt the great muslim rulers we had..
all i am saying is when dear pakistanis take their i hate india glasses we MIGHT have peace!!!

Why do you think the collapse of England's monarchy will solve India and Pakistan issues on 21/12/2012?

Im not sure what you mean by serious....maybe you mean 'flexible'.

So the policy of using terror as low intensity warfare against India is not an issue as per you (ofcourse it doesnt need to discussed as much as stopped by Pakistan?)

oh chachaaaa i bet you did not even know about 21st December 2012 before otherwise you would not have replied in such a manner or probably you are still immature.

In either cases i am not in mood of replying to your post as it is more of a flaming post and will lead us to another controversial debate

Its your choice to reply or not...Why do you bet that I dont know about 2012? I can bet you didnt know about the prediction about the fall of monarchy in England (on paper England's royal family still has some powers) on the date that the Mayan calendar ends...the date you refered to...

Immature..surely not...inflamed by your lack of inclusion of terror as an issue to be resolved..Yes.
