Have you heard or read into the Yayoi migration theory? Early Yayoi are genetically traced to origins in the greater Yangtze region. Further, succeeding waves of Zhejiangese migration into Japan helped form a distinct identity. Centuries later, the Yamato culture and identity solidified itself, nevertheless, was built on Chinese stock.

We have as much right to claim Chinese history and Chinese culture since our ancestors hailed from present day Eastern China.

The later assimilation process, of you can call it naturaliztion was a form of speed the process, a few war criminals coming out of Korea tried to adopt the practice in Manchu. There are some phenotypic variance, but , overall, it is hard to tell us apart. Chinese and Japanese are quite similar.

USA and Germany are basically Western Civilization, while USA, UK, Australia, NZ, Canada are Anglo Saxon, which is even closer.

Germany long have the "Japan option". While Japan is prevented from sending soldiers oversea, USA keep asking Japan to contribute to "peacekeeping".

China would have chance in forming EU style union with Japan, Vietnam, Korea, and further apart Mongolia, followed by Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Mynamar.
