COAS Gen. Kayani Urges Less Spending on Defence

Those Kids don't look like the working type. All they were doing was smoking weed, getting high and getting drunk. I didn't participate in those activities but my cousin wanted to show me how "advanced" Pakistan had become since I last visited.

Don't think they can hold a job at McDonalds.

I am sure there are honest generals and commanders in Pakistan Army but there are many corrupt people there too.

I was just trying to point that out.

I didnt do a detailed study on the wide corruption in Pakistan Army. I am not an investigative journalist. It was just my observation.

Kiyani has always been known to say one thing and do another. Remember when he said PA wouldn't allow any more drone strikes?

Don't get too excited about this news bhartis. :D

Of course not. Kayani is known to say one thing and do another, esp. when he said "PA wouldn't allow any more drone strikes"
Nothing exciting for me :coffee:; all the excitement can only be for you; accounting for things like that and their consequences. :D

he had also said that nations honor would not be compromised for prosperity.and now this exactly opposite statement.he want to compromise with bharatis.

Opposite statement? where he said he wants to compromise with bhartis?

This article in Dawn completely changes the tone of what Kiyani actually said... It has omitted half, of what Kiyani said... I heard almost his entire talk to media in a prog... Yes, he said all these things mentioned in this article, but also when asked abt responding to Nawaz Sharifs statement abt Pak withdrawing first, he said he would not like to comment....but then Kiyani also said tht everybody knows why Pak Army is in Siachen...We are defending our country's borders, and it was India who sent its army first in 1984, in response, Pak sent its army there...Also, as this article said,Kiyani said tht we want peace with India, and tht we would want to spend more on development, all issues including siachen must be resolved through negotiation but he said tht our wish for peaceful coexistence shouldnt be taken as a weakness..One reporter said, tht what do u think abt the high price ..the country has to pay , also in the sense tht soldiers live in extremely harsh conditions here...he said...yes, we know it, but then its army's duty, and we have to do it, no matter how high the price..he said, tht its the job of army to protect its borders, and again said, we are not here, bcoz, we want to be, but tht it was India, who sent its army first, so we have to defend...I wonder, why Dawn has omitted such important parts of his talk completely in this article...

they have a military housing complex near the Lahore Airport....those were constructed in the past 2-3 years or so if i'm not mistaken. ''Generals'' :-)laugh:) are not living in ''opulent mansions in Lahore''

this kid is talking through his arse....

he most definitely is. I have seen the mansions beside the lahore Airport but i have a much larger house than the generals who everybody thinks are living in palaces.

This Mercenary has really retracted most of his original claims as you would see, generals driving italian sports, and opulent mansions!!!

Well you look like an investigative journalist , when you know who is the son of which General!!!

Opulent Mansions for sure. I saw plenty. Can't recall the name of the Generals. As for Italian and German sports cars. I saw their kids driving those and naturally concluded that they cannot be afforded on their salaries.

Too bad you guys are blind to this level of corruption.

Good day.

Kiyani isn't talking about the possibility unilateral moves by Pakistan, only mutual ones. That effectively gives India a veto on Pakistani development policy: for India to keep Pakistan messed up it need change nothing India is doing already, or else make a few more aggressive noises and Pakistani military spending will either stay at the current level or even rise. With Pakistan's prisons falling to guerrilla assaults it's only a matter of time before the level of Pakistani spirit declines further and the country sink into chaos.

That just about sums it up quite succinctly.

Read this thread while browsing in Kashmir fora.

Good day.

Some generals (around 5) may be having a lavish lifestyle and all, heck a general even has a flat above Mall of Lahore ( for reasons everybody knows about), but you are so hell bent on proving that the army is corrupt, that you made an eager statement in your introductory post, and now got to this stage.

And I still seriously doubt that sons of generals driving in Italian sports cars (Ferraris, Lambos etc etc).

Good day indeed.

Why don't you call your cousin?

I'm sure he would know? :D

And I am sure that their is much more wastage of money in Civilians government than in the military. A general can simply not get away with so much money, that he could buy his son a Italian sports car. The money he could make up is through a procurement deal, which don't happen too often.

A general cannot get bribe from the local SHO or the village folks now!!!

Guys I have just listened to the interview on Geo in English. The OP is crap and as I said earlier I do not read what is being suggested in his interview at all

He can say that now, he's got CSF for the lives of 24 of his men.

Good day.

come with something more than just mere words of ''generals sons in italian sports cars at parties in defence'' and maybe people wont be calling your bluff

He can say that now, he's got CSF for the lives of 24 of his men.

is that the case?

He can say that now, he's got CSF for the lives of 24 of his men.

AA: Would this be the same CSF that was claimed to not have been disbursed, and if disbursed, was way too small to cover Pakistan's claimed expenses?
