COAS Gen. Kayani Urges Less Spending on Defence

AA: Would this be the same CSF that was claimed to not have been disbursed, and if disbursed, was way too small to cover Pakistan's claimed expenses?

Well the generals were bragging it would be more beneficial for Pakistan if they had not received it.

. . .
This has to be the biggest comedy I have ever read on this forum....Are you freaking serious mate?
Certainly. I recommend reading Foreign Relations of the United States, 1964–1968, Volume XXV, South Asia, specifically the U.S. State Dept's declassified record of the 1965 India-Pakistan conflict, for further details.

Military would have no reason at all to be opposed to re-vamped and improved police forces -
I believe the Pakistani military has great objections to being subject to civilian police authority and that is a key reason why the police suffer. Another reason, of course, is the military's interference in the entire judicial process, from forensic evidence to arrests to convictions to sentencing and incarceration.

You have a problem with what measures Pakistan takes on its OWN territory, well – take it up with parliament….
They send us right back to Kayani's door - or, if you believe Ijaz, ask the U.S. to help reassert democratic authority.

What would the army gain by telling the government to not stop corrupt practices?
The continuation of you-scratch-me-I-scratch-you corruption, I suppose. Don't you think the corrupt feel far more threatened by incorrupt civil servants than by corrupt ones?

dude, where is the logic in this statement?

how would the PA be "Subject" to civilian police authority? They are all government servants/employees in one way or the other

like i said, the PA job is not to be bodyguards, not to be prison guards, not to be policemen.....their responsibility is defending the territorial integrity of Pakistan Nation and eliminating external threats.

i think you need to revisit your understanding on the job of police and the army

Another reason, of course, is the military's interference in the entire judicial process, from forensic evidence to arrests to convictions to sentencing and incarceration.

you're now talking about interference in the "judicial process"

the same judicial process which you expressed contempt for just 2 weeks ago before your "vacation"

honestly, Solomon.........:coffee:

..... at the direction of the federal government.

Please do not forget this key component about the duties of the Pakistan Army, which must be under civilian authority per the Constitution of Pakistan.

.
..... at the direction of the federal government

that is correct sir.....and the Army didnt act unilaterally when they began their Swat offensives; S.Waz. offensives; Kurram offensive (ongoing); Orakzai offensive.....

You'd be hard pressed to name me things the Army did in the past 10 years that were done against the orders of the Fed (or even Provincial) govts.

Ahoooo. . . .

The Army is under MoD, while Poice is MoI, both of them are npt releated in any way.

Police officials are appointed, hand picked, by poiticians, while the army is not.

How come you reach this conclusion?
