But there is no such thing as "punjabi" ethnicity in my city gujranwala or any other place in punjab, punjabi just means a language for us, people are jatts, gujjars, arain, rajputs, syed, kashmiri, awan, lohar, kumhar, mochis, tarkhan, changars etc., these are the identities people use in punjab for their ethnicities.

Well you could say that for grown ups but not teenagers. Between we call ourselves Punjabis especially when we are outside of Pakistan, I thought you knew that? If it's not in Gujranwala it doesn't means you can say that for whole Punjab wese tu menu pehla Kashmiri milaya jou itna gussa karda hai warna mera the sare Kashmiri dost bare shugli hain, bahir jae ke koi galat asar tah nahin parya

Whether I am outside or inside of pakistan, I only refer to my self as someone from Gujranwala. Same is the case with all the people I know in germany they all identify with cities they come from and then one can ask them about which language do they speak as their mother tongue which in my case is punjabi. And kashmiris have many castes and their behaviour depends on their caste origin in kashmir. My family is of rural farmer origin from kashmir and the kashmiris from rural farmer background all behave like myself. The kashmiri people you met would be of different caste background than myself.

I am guessing that your only company would be Pakistanis then? This is why I am from Gujranwala etc is more common
