Closure of Pak-Afghan Chaman border enters into sixth day
CHAMAN: Situation at Pak-Afghan Chaman border remain tense as the closure of the border crossing reached to its sixth consecutive day.
Afghan citizens had pelted stones at Bab-e-Dosti on 18th August in the presence of Afghan forces after which Pakistan border forces had sealed the border crossing as a sign of protest.
Anti-Pakistani and pro-Indian slogans were also raised by the Afghan nationals at the time of the incident.
The border forces of Pakistan and Afghanistan held two flag meetings to decide the issue but did not reach to any agreement. The meetings were held on the request of Afghanistan.
The supplies to NATO forces in war-ravaged Afghanistan and bilateral trade activities have been suspended following the closure of the border crossing.
The long queues of NATO containers along with cargo trucks were witnessed on both sides of the border.
