Agreed with you that borders should be open .While the rest of your argument regarding Foreign Policy failure has nothing to do with it. What a foreign policy can do when someone (Afghanistan and India) does not accept the existence from very first day.

It has everything to do with it. Pakistan and Afghanistan could have had great relations, but the horses Pakistan put their money on lost and the horses India put their money on won.

So when Brits were leaving we of course wanted our part back just as India got their country Back. We were a muslim country, so religion was not a problem either.
