Chinese N-plants in Pakistan violates NGS rules: US

Well its hardly been a decade, since China was included in NSG.

And if China holds so much weight in NSG, why can't it get Pakistan specific exemption from NSG, as US did for India. Why does it have violate NSG rules and do underhand deals for selling Nuclear reactors to Pakistan?

China claims deal for the first reactors to Pakistan was done, before it became a member of NSG hence does not violate the rules. Somehow NSG memeber accepted that and let it proceed.

Now China does not have any more excuses, any future reactors to Pakistan will have to approved by NSG..otherwise it is liable to lot of international flak, and being labeled as a Nuclear proliferator.
what? if china had no weight in nsg or any world organization , why cant any country including usa or any others stop parkistan from developing her nuke program, huh? why usa dont do that for your irrelevant india, huh? is usa able to do it?

Urge you to make some sense!!, what on earth are you asking?

If english is not your strong point, perhaps you can use a translator, or write it in your local launguage, and ask some other Chinese member to translate it for you.

Who didn't see this coming?

While attending IAEA's General Conference last year, Ernest Moniz, US energy secretary, was asked this question and he had something very interesting to say.

Asked about the agreement Pakistan and China signed in March 2013 for Chinese National Nuclear Corp to supply two ACP-1000 units on a turnkey basis at the Chashma Nuclear Power Complex in the Punjab region of Pakistan, Moniz said, "Anything done, frankly anywhere, has to be done under the highest standards of safeguards and the appropriateness of technology utilization. There will be some very detailed issues to be explored in terms of the technologies incorporated in any such project. Otherwise that's probably a question for the Department of State."

Source: US energy secretary lists priorities at IAEA meeting

For the uninitiated, Ernest Moniz is playing a central role in Iran nuclear deal.

There was also a Pakistani nuclear smuggling ring that was busted in 2011
August 23, 2011: Chinese National Charged with Illegal U.S. Exports to Pakistani Nuclear Program
April 14, 2011: Pakistani Man Charged with Exporting U.S. Goods to Pakistan’s Nuclear Program

@Irfan Baloch: Please clean up the mess created by @ares and @jackmars on this thread.

Your missing the point. It is that the agenda is set by the powerful and there is nothing absolute about it. It flexes with the will of the sole superpower.

Example: Isreal has nuclear weapons but everybody has done a ostrich. See no evil, hear no evil.

. .
We must pull away from the USA. They sanctioned us in 1998 while they turned a blind eye to Indian nuclear tests in 1974. We are being purposely harassed by the Americans. How can the only nation that has used a nuclear weapon during its life culminating in the death of 200000 be allowed to talk about the nuclear ambitions of other states.

I am longing for the day when the US is kicked down the heirarchy of world leadership. They made a riot of Kargil when we were only responding to India's 1984 siachin invasion.

Talk about having pathetic allies who would do anything to weaken their allies and you have the US of ***. Also the sanctions on Iran while no sanctions for Israel. Everyone knows the US tacitly supported Israel with a nuke. Why does Israel need a nuke when none of its neighbors have one? But no, lets bully Pakistan.

Pakistan and China should make a combined statement telling the US to shut it.

The problem is and this is a big problem, Pakistan and the pretty much the rest of the world looks up to uncle Sam for trade and validation.

You alienate US and EU will reciprocate. That is how they dominate the world, through the power of the collective who enforce their hegemony.

The only purest way to break free from this is to become a self sufficient independent country which has something the world requires and they will pay you for it. Only then can you give middle finger to US and start building yourself a nation.

You will have to agree here, that you had been quoting wrong information, and that does not make for a strong case.

Your post misled numerous others into believing that there are many nuclear power plants in Israel.

Please be more serious about veracity of claims next time.

And what of the secret stockpile of nukes ? is that for research purposes?

One has to specifically understand the difference between a Nuclear Power plant and a nuclear bomb, for the difference is a hell and heaven difference.

Violation of norms in Nuclear power plants and Nuclear proliferation are different things altogether.

fair enough, so could please point out the specific clause which says that reactors of 5mw or so for that matter are not covered under NSG

The numbers are academic. It is of no import. What is significant is that Isreal has WMD but has not at any stage come under scrutiny. The central crux of what I am saying is if you have "friend in high places" you don't need to worry about such silly things as having to follow international law or obligations.

The sub text for Pakistan? Hold on China's tail and see if they can leverage as well as US does for Isreal. Time will tell.

One could expect the following headlines in Chinese media "Isreal in violation of international proliferation agreements".

To which the American's say " Don't worry that is our headache"

Ditto NSG rules and China viz Pakistan.
