Who are more qualified in judging Chinese government? Chinese mainlanders or HKers? The CCP never controlled HK for a single day. That argument is rather weak. If HK people aren't qualified to judge the Chinese Govt then the CPC has no right to rule over them. This is coming from someone who supports China on this forum. Your first question is one of the main reasons why the people of HK don't trust the Govt. You might sneer and claim who gives a hoot but the ramifications in the long term won't be good. Every single Govt in the world should be held accountable for its policies, after all, no human being is omnipotent and they must be checked.

CPC has never controlled HK but let's be frank instead of hiding behind the bush. Who selects the Chief Executive? You can dress it up however you want but indirectly China controls HK. I agree with China's stance in HK, but still, they miscalculated there steps in HK. Pragmatism trumps emotions.

In regards to your second paragraph. China can do whatever it likes, but if these stories are true then the consequences won't be good. Xinjiang will be on fire and the Govt will only have itself to blame. Look at the current scenario. Afghanistan is falling into the hands of the Taliban again. Back in 1996 ISI was able to convince them not to support ETIM. The same won't hold true this time. You can't purchase their loyalty as the concept of Jihad is ingrained in there DNA. Since we live in the age of social media it would be very difficult for China to hide their policies of oppressing the Uyghurs.

You might laugh, and claim so what. But this same group along with its older fighters and the tribes of FATA have defeated two superpowers in the last 50 years. They are battle-hardened, know how to fight guerilla warfare and have a million armed men. America wants to check China, and this would be the perfect opportunity. Thousands of foreign fighters will pour into the region and the end result would be Xinjiang on fire. Like I said before, if the CPC Govt wants this then be our guest, they will only have themselves to blame when shit hits the fan. I don't want this happen.

I am quite fond of China but that doesn't mean I will accept an illusion portrayed in your post. Who attacked who first? Under Chairman Mao the Muslim's were being oppressed. This means the Govt was the first instigator. Second, I agree Xinjiang belongs to China, but the Han community should look within themselves. What do Chinese Han people refer to Uyghurs in China? They call the whole community "thieves". When you demonize someone and take away their dignity then do you expect respect? The answer will always be no. Don't get me wrong, the Uyghur must change too in how they interact with other communities.
