China's capital orders Arabic, Muslim symbols taken down

.
If "their country their rules" approach is really followed, PDF will have a lot lesser number of posts. :-)

And some of those lessor posts Would be regarding the Stargate and it’s marvelous secrets.

This is going to be extremely detrimental to China’s perception in the Muslim world and will lead to it losing most of the goodwill it has gathered with Pakistanis.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. China is shooting itself in the foot. They have failed to learn from the mistakes of other countries, when it comes to dealing with large minority populations.

This, along with their treatment of Christians, is eventually going to backfire, and it's going to backfire hard. It may not happen now, or even a decade from now, but its consequences will be felt.

@I.R.A still am not done with my work, and I still haven't forgotten. I'm gonna deal with our conversation soon enough. Though it seems I'm being proven right as we speak, considering the news that's coming out.

English is also a foreign language. I don't see the chinese try banning it?
Praise the white man, they worship them like gods.

Like I've said before if this is true the byes bye China. You just shot yourself in the foot and helped a great deal of countries find millions of freedom fighters

They are already being felt now.
This move may likely be in reaction to what they have tried to implement in Uyghur which is likely having sympathetic blowback for heartland Chinese Muslims who are now also voicing concerns. This is likely why they are trying to implement the same draconian concept here and hence it will only spread.

The USSR is a prime example of where religious suppression failed. For years on end Islam was outlawed in the former republics, people were forced into the common creed, pumped with Vodka and so on.

Yet, Islam not only survived ; it thrived. People prayed in closets, taught their children in hidden cellars.. more huffaz came out of it and now they are back.

What did work for Moscow? Embracing it, Chechnya is a prime example. They embraced the right leadership and provided the people a “voice”. So despite keeping its heavy hand, today the number of Muslims praying is moscow on Eid is testament what process won and what ideals lasted.

You said you'd break your daughter's legs if she ever wore a skirt. But you live in the UK and it's common to see skirts here, why you not ready to do as the angraiz (romans) are doing?

Seems there's one rule for yourself and then there's completely different rules that you expect us other Muslims to follow lol.
Did UK make rule for skirt? seems not. I did not see conflicts.

What @Indus Pakistan said about 'rule' is law, not family rule.

Spot on. When the Russians altered their approach to Chechnya and rather than antagonistic homogenization policies, declared that Chechnya and its unique culture and its religion were all things for the whole of Russia to be proud of, this won over many who may otherwise have taken a separatist route. Putin protected Chechnya's unique status as a semi autonomous region and Grozny is completely at peace now. China could learn from this. Russia has chechnyans, dagestanis, tatars and other Muslim groups, all of whom are proud to serve the federation.

I am for British style secular liberalism not Chinese style athiesm. If my views conflcted with British secular liberal democracy I would leave this country and probably move to the next closest country that fits my thoughts. That is Turkey.

And i never said anything about 'skirt'. I mean't modesty. And I would never live in China precisely for the reasons that it conflicts with my personal views by intruding into what i regard as personal domain.

Chinese state sponsored atheism is basically similar to a country run by religious clergy, while one forces religion down people's throats, the other forces people to give up their religious beliefs. Sure they may do well in economy but their people become emotionless drones with inability to have any human sympathy. Very different from Western secularism where Europeans fought for centuries against the Church and established morals and ethics based on religious freedom, equality, liberty etc etc.

Government workers from various offices told one manager of a Beijing noodle shop to cover up the “halal” in Arabic on his shop’s sign, and then watched him do it.

“They said this is foreign culture and you should use more Chinese culture,” said the manager, who, like all restaurant owners and employees who spoke to Reuters, declined to give his name due to the sensitivity of the issue.
They will lose rich Arab tourists and Muslim tourist Inshallah

“They said this is foreign culture and you should use more Chinese culture,”
This is the epitome of xenophobia ....

And just to clarify I belong to quite a conservative family but that does NOT mean we are Taliban either. I respect tradition but have a eye to the future. In this regard I have never found UK ever to limit or impede in my personal life. I believe females should be educated and you might call me a feminist. This is my mother and my daughters on recent graduation day. As you can see differant clothes are worn and the bottom line is modesty. Whether they cover their head or not is their choice. I only expect modesty, elegance which of course is largely informed by my Muslim belief system. However my issue is with Mullahs shoving what they think is Islam dowm my throat or athiest shoving their crap down my throat.

You can leave and it would be easy. Do you think it is easy for these Muslims in China to just pack up their bags and leave? Many of them, if not most, are probably native Chinese whose families have been Muslim for hundreds of years, long before any communist was walking about on earth.

But it's like you said, you would leave and not do as the romans do if they came down on you and required change which you didn't like. So why do you expect others to do as the romans do?

You're not ignorant of how the chinese communists are. You are also one of the ones who knows exactly how far in brutality the chinese have gone against their Muslim populations. But yet you still give lowkey support to them and simply expect them to do as romans do. It's more honorable to speak up against oppressors than to dress modestly. Being conservative doesn't only mean you dress properly, it goes way beyond that.

The western suits with ties that they proudly wear are also "part of American/European culture", but Chinese president and his ministers don't have problem copying the dress code of Americans/Europeans, now for convenience some will say you know but suit has become "international" or "universal" official dress, but that doesn't change the reality that Suit is a western or American/European dress code.

China US trade talks, so who is copying the dress code here Chinese or Americans?

Why don't they wear their own indigenous Chinese dress if they have so much problem from "foreign cultural influences", actually same also applies to Japanese and Koreans.
