China's capital orders Arabic, Muslim symbols taken down

Chinese state sponsored atheism is basically similar to a country run by religious clergy, while one forces religion down people's throats, the other forces people to give up their religious beliefs. Sure they may do well in economy but their people become emotionless drones with inability to have any human sympathy. Very different from Western secularism where Europeans fought for centuries against the Church and established morals and ethics based on religious freedom, equality, liberty etc etc.
Personal religious freedom is well protected. No one will ask or care what you believe. I never met any issue in past decades.

What is not OK is that using religion to crime, such as pyramid scheme, criminal gang.

. .
This, along with their treatment of Christians, is eventually going to backfire, and it's going to backfire hard. It may not happen now, or even a decade from now, but its consequences will be felt.
Exactly my point ...They didn't learn what lost Muslims of Europe ended up finding as ISIS. ..Instead of learning from proper channels they ended up being played by the worst all because any sign of their religion was not accepted and considered foreign....eventually the worst happened. The sad thing is if it is replicated in China it would be worst. Coz what better way to break China then to exploit the oppressed? And what better way to exploit then use what they are struggling with? In one generation they will have lost Muslims seeking to satisfy their thirst for an identity and if America or any other country is still at odds with China, then another mujahidin won't be hard to raise....and America is best to raise these...They already have experience.

The sad and worst part would be another blow back into Pakistan. ..another unstable border. ...I really fear this and I really hope China comes to their senses soon.

Islam had religious morals for personal self , for the neighborhood, the society and also for the country ...It isnt just your relationship with God but also with God's creatures and the planet earth...many things are simple...like be nice to neighbour or help the poor and needy...Other things are complicated like distribution of meat into three parts : for yourself, for your relatives friends and neighbours and for the poor.....If it was about self we wouldn't be encouraged to help others esp the needy...

Even a friendly reminder is counted as charity.

They need to stop drinking coffee...that is foreign and throw out algebra

.
So why do you expect others to do as the romans do?
For no other reason then that I am a nationalist and I know China is essential to trhe state of Pakistan.Forget essential but critical I would say. Thus self interest dictates Pakistan supports China and even hard as it might be ignore what is happening. This is exactly what the Pakistani state is doing. It simply has no choice. Behind the scenes as a friend Pakistan might be having a soft word but I doubt these hardline athiests are going to be swayed by a bankrupt state which is surviving on handouts.

The western suits that they wear are also "part of American/European culture", but Chinese president and his ministers don't have problem copying the dress code of Americans/Europeans, now for convenience some will say you know but suit has become "international" or "universal" official dress, but that doesn't change the reality that Suit is a western or American/European dress code.

China US trade talks, so who is copying here Chinese or Americans in dress code

Why don't they wear their own indigenous Chinese dress if they have so much problem from "foreign cultural influences", actually same also applies to Japanese and Koreans.

Well noted. Wonder if we going to see Xi walk into UN conferance wearing this contraption with a pigtail?

Bro if you say something in defence of these Muslims, Pakistans not gna suddenly blow up. Think about self interest then, about yourself, leave pakistan out for a bit. You don't live there, maybe you don't ever plan to live there permanently. With or without you, that region will carry on going. Then one day you're going to die and then you might have a hard time justifying positions like this to Allah for the sake of nationalism.

I would say Pakistan matters more to my future and my life plans than to yours even though you're the nationalist and not me. I'm young, you're old and I have my eyes on certain careers which require pakistan to exist. But I don't see any benefit in accumulating such sins just for Pakistan cos being Pakistani isn't going to help you on the day of judgement. No father of the nation, no army general, no political party is going to help me when it will matter most.

Perhaps the reason Pakistan is in the state that it is in and our enemies are in the state they are because of our lack of morals and lack of trust in Allah. If we can't do what is right then how can we hope for a successful nation when all success comes from Allah.

You might look at this as the rambling of some mullah I guess lol. But I've tried the whole "imran khan needs to keep quiet about abc...because pakistan is in need of xyz" and it just comes back and eventually slaps you on the face.

Any borderline reliable sources reporting this or is just the usual lump of "independent" American regime mouthpieces and "indpendent" American regime financed NGOs again?

Chinese political advisers from five main religions hailed the country's efforts to promote social stability and vowed to continue adhering to the sinicization of religions and make greater efforts to better integrate religions into the socialist society.

In a panel discussion during the second session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang Yang, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, said that religious issues have a bearing on social harmony, ethnic solidarity and national security, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

He spoke of the need to raise awareness of the rule of law to maintain harmony and stability in religious circles, and ensure religions better adapt themselves to socialist society, Xinhua reported.

At the panel discussion, Zhan Ru, deputy head of the China Buddhist Association and a CPPCC member, said that Chinese Buddhist culture is a window for the world to understand Chinese culture and Chinese religion.

Taking Buddhism as a platform for dialogue, it is important to strengthen the internal harmony of Chinese religions and promote exchanges between Chinese Buddhism and world Buddhism.

Adiljang Ajikrim, deputy head of the China Islamic Association, said that 2019 is the key to implementing the five-year (2018-22) outline on the sinicization of Islam and the key to the direction is to construct the Islamic doctrine system with Chinese characteristics and cultivate high-quality talent.

He suggested that the government continue to unify the compilation and publishing textbooks for China's Islamic institutes and strengthen the interpretation of the doctrines in multiple platforms and channels.

Yang Faming, head of the China Islamic Association, told the China News Service that upholding the direction of sinicization of religion should correctly understand the relationship between national laws and religious regulations.

Yang said the association has drafted a regulation on Islamic personnel's code of conduct.

In a joint conference held on Thursday, Dai Junfeng, the head of the Islamic Association in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan Province and a CPPCC member, also vowed to explore more paths for the sinicization of Islam.

Dai told the Global Times that during the past year, his association has been implementing the initiative advocated by the China Islamic Association, which urged nationwide Islamic associations to raise the national flag at mosques, require religious personnel to study the Chinese Constitution, socialist core values and traditional Chinese culture.

His association has established a district to demonstrate national unity and progress, and integrate the study of classic doctrines with socialist core values, he said.

Huang Zhi'an, deputy head of the Taoism Association of China, said that Taoism is the native religion of China.

However, the religion has been lacking vitality for the years. "The key to solving this problem is to train a group of top Taoist talent," Huang told the Global Times.

Shen Bin, deputy head of the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association, also said that Catholicism has been experiencing ups and downs after being introduced to China because the local churches failed to implement the principle of independence and self-management, and didn't integrate with Chinese culture.

The Catholic Church in China needs to adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party of China, uphold the direction of sinicization and strengthen the implementation of the Regulation on Religious Affairs, Shen said.

Zhang Keyun, deputy head of China Christian Council, stressed the need to build a mechanism for religious work in rural areas, strengthen management in accordance with the law and guide the exploration of the sinicization of Christianity.

Kan Baoping, deputy head of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee of the Protestant Church in China, stressed the need to unite Christians in China to resist external infiltration and walk on the path of loving the country and the church.

In September 2017, leaders from the five religious communities reached a consensus at a forum, "Chinese culture and religious sinicization," in Beijing. They agreed that "the direction of religions is to integrate with Chinese culture."

In March 2018, the Christian community announced the implementation of a five-year outline, which requires the community to strengthen the theological foundation for the sinicization of Christianity.

Catholic churches passed a draft version of a five-year outline to promote the sinicization of Catholicism in December 2017.

I support it, but I doubt the outcome. "independent" American regime mouthpieces and "indpendent" American regime financed NGOs will not stop demonizing China no matter what China did, and plenty buy those crap.

You said you'd break your daughter's legs if she ever wore a skirt. But you live in the UK and it's common to see skirts here, why you not ready to do as the angraiz (romans) are doing?

Seems there's one rule for yourself and then there's completely different rules that you expect us other Muslims to follow lol.

He's a hypocrite. If the Chinese were raping his daughter and mother like they're doing to Uighurs, you'd be surprised how quickly he changes his "their country, their rule" stance.

Imagine if UK starts following his advice and starts putting him and others in concentration camps. Boy, sure would be funny to hear his screams "this is oppression" and if someone tells him "their country, their rules".

I feel sad that Muslims of all people make statements like these. Islam gave human rights before the world knew what human rights were. Muslims liberated countries just for one oppressed person cries.

When I go to Beijing next time I will confirm it for myself. If this is the case then this policy is wrong. The Govt needs to think clearly before it acts. But when I was in Beijing this did not occur. Each restaurant had a clear halal sign in Arabic. This includes places in Shanghai and Chengdu. Since @beijingwalker lives in Beijing maybe he can give us a clear picture to resolve the issue.

Please head to Kashgar especially the Id kah mosque and Urumqi too. Would be nice to know what a forum member sees and says.

In'sha'allah when time permits I will visit the area. If this news is true then I would extremely disappointed with the Govt. They have made great progress since the era of Mao but they would be throwing it down the drain with such policies. CPEC can't be successful unless Xinjiang is stable. Furthermore, China wants to foster good links with the Muslim world in general. These policies in the long term will have a setback to achieve such good goals.

.
This is going to be extremely detrimental to China’s perception in the Muslim world and will lead to it losing most of the goodwill it has gathered with Pakistanis.

Exactly. I dont blame the average Chinese. The current government is full of yes men, Xi is causing problems for China in long run. Hong kong youth protesting is bad for PRC, the people of Taiwan will see union with Beijing negatively. Lastly globally people will be less likely to spy for China and work closely with them.
