What is wrong if China build 42 units type 055!?
After all CHINA build 36 units type 054A(PAKISTAN navy 4 units included)
??

The question is why not! Considering PLA 6 aircraft battle group,42 units is less !
CHINA has the money and techs and has the SCS disputes as well as the obligation to maintain Asia and indian ocean peace and prosperity!
again,why not!?

The calculation is based on a false assumption.USN doesn't have any significant frigates so its only real ships are burke or tico .China has dozens of capable frigates and are a much more closer to shore kind of navy.The existence of large no.of type 54s makes no sense if they need to build 42 055 cruisers.Chinese CBGs will have type 52Ds as well as type 54s.Moreover huge capital ships are vulnerable against submarines and not suitable for solo ASW duty for which Type54 supported by type 56 will be better suited.So a CBG with only 4-5 type 55 cruiser escort is inefficient and weak in ASW.It will be a mix of 1-2 052d,1-2 054a/b,2 055 and nuke sub escorts.

I smell a scared Indian . And China have not reached 20 055 yet.

every major navy project was well tested and examed before going for bulk order, 055's initial order was 6 units, I dont know where did you get the idea of "not finished testing" from````most of the subsystems of 055 were well "tested" on 052C, 052D and 054A

Last time I checked the first 055 is not commissioned and still undergoing sea trials.

haha mass production ... man china has literally focked up the calculus no other nation has the capability to mass produce a 12k ton heavy destroyers like type 55.
Vehicles can be mass produced but destroyers amazing
