China sends its second aircraft carrier (the first domestically-made one) to the South China Sea

Without Taiwan, then PLAN operating east of it would be operating in a disadvantageous environment because its too far from PRC coast and surrounded by Japanese and American missiles, bases, radars, and sonar stations. If PRC had Taiwan, then PLAN wouldn't be entirely surrounded east of Taiwan. PLAN oilers, for example, would be easy prey for soryu subs. Without the oilers, then the PLAN can only just drift at sea and a sitting duck like a lone lion surrounded by a pack of hyena. But key to the US Japan side is that alliance staying intact over the long term. 1 term of Trump isn't enough to break it. But more Trump-like POTUS terms can be a problem to the alliance.

If China can take down Taiwan with impunity, then the world will start to question if the US really has power to contain China in the Asia-Pacific, then this will be a devastating blow to the US hegemony in the Asia-Pacific.

Then even Japan & South Korea will shift from the anti-China alliance formed by the US to neutral independent from the US.

This will allow China to control all the vital trading blocs in the Asia-Pacific region. At the same time, this will turn out to be disastrous for the USD.

Without the hegemony USD, the US economy will soon succumb into the hyperinflation stage, and even the entire country can no longer exist.

That's why the status quo for Taiwan is a buffer zone between China and the US. When you remove that buffer zone, then it will soon escalate in a hot war even potentially nuclear war.

You're missing the point, no Taiwan (regardless of taken by force or CCP win in Taiwan election or keeping status que for preventing hot war or whatever other reason that can be asserted), then no PLAN superiorty east of it.

These toys will ensure that no naval power in the world has the capability to threaten China in the Asia-Pacific region.

Also with China's rapidly growing naval & air power, China's dominance in the Asia-Pacific region is the de facto situation.

The Chinese Navy is very big and is the fastest growing in the world. Why continue to throw out so many fake stories of the US Navy dominance in the Chinese seas? There is no need to buy into those fake stories when you look at what the Chinese already have and building at breakneck speed. The pace the Chinese Navy is growing is nothing short of miracle unseen in the western world.

USA needs to convince other countries in the world that she is still the most powerful country.

Without the title as the most powerful country in the world, the other countries in the world will simply stop supporting the USD.

Without the USD as the world reserve currency, the US economy will soon succumb to the hyperinflation and collapse within a very short period.

What does the other shipyard look like? Mostly destroyers there too? 052D and 055?

Production of 054A and 056A have stopped, it seems from the lack of news or photos about them.

JN shipyard: It is currently building two CATOBAR supercarriers and many other Type 055/052DL.

DL shipyard: It is planning to build two more CATOBAR supercarriers in its new construction site, also it is currently building many other Type 055/052DL.

Bohai shipyard: It is simultaneously building many SSBNs/SSNs with the enlarged new facilities.

HD shipyard: It is currently building many LHDs, maybe new frigates in the near future.

HP shipyard: It is currently building many replenishment ships, maybe new frigates in the near future.

ME oil no longer paid in USD is the most important factor bring the Dollar down. Dumping T bills is not enough either as other countries also holding large amount of it. Capturing Taiwan won't play that important role for sustaining its world currency status. Still China is expanding its Naval power so fast there is no stopping to it. What will Chinese Navy look like within a decade? I bet it would be unbelievably powerful with those modern destroyers, carriers and submarines.

Previous points took PRC BMs into consideration.

Not enough to break force dispersion and they can't target subs.

The PLAN is growing faster than the USN.

And the USN has so many aging ships that cannot be properly replaced with the new commissioned ships.

Also, the cost is one of the biggest factors.

China is building a much more superior Type 055 with merely $1 billion, whereas the US is building a much more inferior Arleigh Burke Flight IIA with the double cost of the Type 055.

This kind of unilateral leverage from China is simply unsustainable for the US in this new arm race.

The current US think tanks under Trump believe that the US can cede or back down from any country except China in a geopolitical confrontation.

Because China is considered to be the only adversarial country for the US in term of economic/technological/military rivalry.

Ceding or backing down from China means they are capitulating the world to China.

Now China and US officially entered into a trade war truce 2.0, and during this break time, the US will try to recover more loss by waging more trade wars against the less powerful countries like EU/Japan/South Korea/India, because they need to force those countries to capitulate in order to rob their wealth in a long term struggle against the primary adversary like China.

Are you German?
There is a saying „auf langer Sicht sind wir alle tot!“
You think if Chinese advance military buildup, other don’t?
You are too delusional!

Japan will build 10 Izumos? from where did you pull that number out? care to share the source with us please?
My friend, JP’s yearly military budget is 5.32 trillion yen. The sum is enough to pay 44 Izumo. Don’t worry of JP industrial capacity, she can make them on assembly line.
I think JP navy needs larger carriers. The environment around Japan is too dangerous.

According to the PLA Navy, China's 2nd aircraft carrier is now passing through the Taiwan Straight. The carrier will conduct scientific research and regular training in the South China Sea.

pretty boat :) eh, ship :)

China is a more honest player than those individuals in the West.

Don't want to be like the Iraqis....

Vietnam is opposed to 'freedom', they have a one party state for the Vietnamese people. Where is the political party that is opposed to the Vietnamese people. There needs to be two of these for there to be 'democracy'.
Maybe Vietnam allready has the best system of government for their particular populations of the current generations living there.

Actually, Trump knows exactly what he's doing with military support and international politics in general.
I'm only a European, but i fully endorse Trump for a 2nd round as US President.

For instance, Trump looks ahead, and will probably approve the "Space Force" 1.4 trillion budget package calculated by US bureaucrats to be the right number at this time for this new branch of the US military.

The world is safer with leaders like Trump at the helm.
At least, until a bad one shows up.
That one, i'll diss left and right by the way.

China can even outgun the US in the naval & air force expansion, do you really think other countries stand a chance?

The US is currently exhausted in the trade war, that's why she needs another truce until after the 2020 election.

China in 2020 will focus on recovery/re-strengthening economy, and also will pull out a lot of big toys, including the nuclear supercarrier, H-20 stealth bomber, and the exascale supercomputers.
