CHINA PROVIDED Z10 HELICOPTER TO PAKISTAN

US is really b/w a rock and a hard place.... Because they know that 20 years from now China would be something they cannot challenge in the air or the sea in that far east region, so they cannot allow military equipment even if they wanted, because China would simply be using their technology against USA. Europe on the other hand doesn't have these issues. They are already chipping in for the Chinese Development Bank........and soon they'll offer industrial partnerships as well. I mean, what can America do in Aerospace and Defense, that Europeans can't? A continent with 300 years of industrial might is all you need. American doesn't come in the picture....because it is not needed. Same is the case with India....members here rejoicing that USA is offering joint engine development and bla bla, well, they will only offer as much as they would want.....beyond a certain point they won't (what if in the next 10-20 years, Indians don't work up to the expectations of Americans?). That is precisely India chose the European Rafale and kept the Typhoon on stand by, because with Europeans you get a lot more than the jets.....something Americans aren't exactly known for.
In other words USA is trying to slowing down china's takeover time.

Since Airbus is developing a helicopter for Civilian AND military market in china, an engine join venture is not so far fetched.
Hopefully they would get on with that soon. A deal for Rolls-Royce Turbomeca RTM322 licence production would be perfect.

We have head over a long time that Pakistan is interested in getting one of the Western Engine. At the time when PAF was initially in contact with the French for the entire cockpit there were reports that they are also trying to get the Engine which is being used by M2k. But later it was learnt that the Indian's were twisting the arm by announcing MMRCA.

Once Turkey announced that they are going to make Turkish Fighter X and they are looking towards EJ-200. There were rumors that JF-17 will be powered by EJ-200 and a short while later the British PM visited Pakistan it was taken for granted that the deal is going to be signed or it has been signed.

Some time passed and Saudi Defence Minister visited PAC and was briefed on JF-17, it was assumed that SANG was going to buy with EJ-200 because RSAF is a user.

Now once the MMRCA deal is in the doldrums France is again looking to revive with JF-17 and PAF.

On the other hand the West does not want Russia to revive its economy hence would do any thing to stop. Logical step is to take control of a market that might be exclusively Russian (INDIA). Task given to USA.
African countries, Pakistan and those which operate Russian aircraft, this task has been take over by the Europeans. The products that can be sold directly to these market are very limited so they have to improvise. To do this the West including Israel relied on one partner INDIA but they soon realised that it would not be a smooth sailing. Still the have invested heavily in the LCA (Tejas) Engine provided by USA. Design improvements and up gradation of production capability by France. Weapons and avionics provided by Israel.

Unfortunately the Indian's are still not happy to start mass production so they have to look at alternates. The only place the Western Countries can find so quickly is China not only in aircraft but also other products.

Chinese attack helicopters could soon replace American Cobras in Pakistan
Pakistan recently took delivery of three Z-10 attack helicopters, stored at this hangar in the Qasim Army base near Rawalphindi. The helicopters' state of disassembly suggests that Pakistani technicians are working to quickly familiarize themselves with these new helicopters by installing rotor blades and other parts for flight, and then combat.

Since a January 2015 agreement, China has transferred three Z-10 "Thunderbolt" attack helicopters to Pakistan, which has become China's staunchest ally and largest weapons buyer. These three Z-10 helicopters are currently at a Pakistani Army base in Qasim/Dhamial, undergoing testing, maintenance training and modifications for operating in the Khyber mountains.

The Z-10, like other modern attack helicopters, carries a wide variety of missiles and rockets like the HJ-10 anti-tank missile, as well as its 23mm chain gun, which can spit out about 600 8oz shells a minute.
The Z-10 is built by the Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation, with design input from Russia's Kamov Design Bureau. It first flew in 2003, and the PLA and the PLAN currently flies around 80-100 helicopters. The 7-8 ton Z-10 is similar to other attack helicopters like the AH-64 Apache, Mi-28 Havoc and August Westland Mangusta. With its heavy armament of a 23mm cannon, and over a ton of guided weapons including HJ-10 anti-tank missiles, 57mm rockets and TY-90 air to air missiles, the Z-10 is China's frontline attack helicopter, replacing the Cold War era Z-9 (itself a French license copy).

The Z-10's primary sensor is the round turret on the bottom half of its nose,similar to sensor turrets found on UAVs like the Reaper. The sensor turret carries a variety of cameras, including night vision, electro-optical and infrared imaging.
The Z-10 will supplement Pakistan's arsenal of 51 aging American built AH-1 "Cobra" attack helicopters. In particular, the Z-10's greater size allows it to carry more powerful thermal imaging and night vision equipment than the AH-1F, as well as "fire and forget" missiles like the HJ-10 (the AH-1's TOW missile requires that the helicopter maintain line of sight with the target, which leaves it vulnerable to anti-air fire). The Z-10 also has a laser target designator, which could allow it to provide guidance support for missiles fired by the Burraq armed drones.

The PLA currently has at least eight squadrons of Z-10 attack helicopters, for a total of nearly 100 helicopters. If China succeeds in exporting the Z-10 to Pakistan, it would make it a highly competitive export prospect.

Once they enter into service, Pakistans' Z-10 attack helicopter would likely fight in Operations Khyber 1 and Zarb e Azb against Taliban fighters near the Afghan border. The Z-10 would be used, as have the AH-1s, to provide close air support for Pakistani troops, as well as to conduct search and kill mission of high value terrorist targets, and battlefield reconnaissance.

Attack helicopters are surprisingly agile, as this aerobatic Z-10 sprays off colored smoke and fires flares. While high turn maneuvers and smoke wouldn't fool most modern surface to air missiles like handheld MANPADS, flares can still be effective.
Future upgrades for the Z-10 could include a millimeter wave radar similar to the American Longbow system, more powerful WZ-16 turboshaft engines to increase speed and armor, improved infrared and electronic countermeasures, and the ability to network with unmanned systems such as drones. If Pakistan finds the Z-10 to be capable platforms, it would likely replace the Cobra as Pakistan's next attack helicopter. And a successful trail by combat would make the Z-10 very attractive to other foreign buyers. Just another sign that China is making waves in the international arms market, selling increasingly sophisticated systems such as warships, air defense and anti-ship missiles.

Seems pretty good in terms of specs.

I think it is best for Pakistani Army to go for full import or assembly in Pakistan sort of arrangement for the z-10s. Replacing the AH-1s with these would change the way your army has been fighting in the mountains for years.

AH-64D and Mi-28N is heavy-sized attack helicopter,they have more powerful engine and thicker armor.

I think Z-10 and AH-64D in The Same Class.

Z-10 have better armor and Heavier 'Empty Weight'
5,540 KG for Z-10 other than Apache just 5,165 KG.

The Problem is in Payload.
But, It will be Fixed if WZ-16 Engine come.
In Z-10 Next Batch I think.
