trade promotes interdependence, which reduces the incentive of war. protectionism and isolation reduce reluctance of waging wars. So, I am all for the free trade.

Excellently put. That is something I have maintained for a long time. Same reason nothing happens or will happen to US-China relations despite all the talk from Trump.

It's when you have nothing to lose that war becomes a real possibility.

At the risk of sounding condescending my perception is that most people in India simply don't care about Pakistan - except maybe during a cricket match. Most are too busy trying to get a better job, buy that smartphone, get that B-segment car, go on that foreign trip, etc.

If nobody cares for a serious dialogue it's because they've just given up with Pakistani leadership. No point having a photo-op moment and a grand declaration when 6 months later there will be a terrorist attack by groups that enjoy patronage and sanctuary in Pakistan.

It's because Pakistan has never given an opportunity for peace. Your powers that be can only remain in power if they have an enemy called India.

I am thinking y all of a sudden chinese become generous and showing love and talking about peace with india ...
Is it just to mend ties of friendship or some other reasons are there??(like they need a bigger market where they can invest in large amount and can keep running their logs bcz of large orders which are burdened now a days by less orders and large amount of productions??)..
Obviously they cant onvest everything in china ,and russia and some other countries are not in a state to give them orders to keep runnig their industries...
Well nothing comes out of china (secrets)..
Still one's economy based on production always needs a bigger market of consumers.
At least people cant deny it...

Spot on...I am with opinion that India and Pakistan may not be the best buddies...but at least we should not be in each others throat. In general, outside India and Pakistan, both citizen are always best friends in all foreigh countries...Remember, we are best buddies in US,Europe and i am sure in Gulf too...

Just a question to all those here who are advocating to mend ties with China.

neither China nor India or Pakistan can keep on spending astronomical money on defence forever.
& today several issues can be solved just by putting sincere technical and sincere efforts.
For starters, China is the largest producer of Photo voltaic cells and there is a need to install massive solar power generation capacity (more after Paris agreement). Logically given such massive combined population, the countries should lead rest of the world in this area, instead what we have is China selling Coal fired plants to Pakistan, India and China squabbling over NSG and perennial disputes between India and Pakistan over trade agreements. This is just baffling, to say the least.
Some would remark that anything is justified in international diplomacy, but in this specific case 3 neighbors, it is criminal to let go opportunities and potential. Someday future generations will really rue the lack of capability of nations to engage each other constructively.

Even in this case China holds the key. Once China understand key benefits of having peace with India..pakistan on its own will tow the line and stop sending terrorist to our country.

I agree with most of what you said but my question was related to this line "We can't be enemies forever" If Indians can exhibit such way of thinking for China (by the way they too have territorial dispute with you as does Pakistan) so why not Pakistan? This does not mean that disputes or ill feelings towards each other will vanish over night but Pakistan in terms of language, movies and culture is pretty similar than anybody else. At the very least we dont need interpretors to talk to each other

Impossible. It's two to tango. Chinese respect power!!! Pakistan respect nothing. Let's say Pakistan Army decides to put an end to terrorism Infiltration in India and Afghanistan. Will the lose terror outfits agree to it? Same way Pakistan won't stop hate against india forever. So be it.

In case of China and India. It's all about two Asian civilization fighting for supremacy at home and global stage. Same way Russia and America fought it out. Point to be noted. Till date these two core enemies never went to war with each others directly as it will be stalemate without any outcome. But fights kept going on and still goes on with difference means. . . Do u see my point?

We have, many times. Nothing will progress until and unless Pakistan gets rid of it's fringe elements.
