Featured China Mars rover successfully landed

And we say China only follows the successful footsteps of others.

BTW How was any of our rovers a failure?
As I recall your first rover, Yutu, failed to move on the moon due to an electronics freeze after only two weeks.
Our first rover drove for 95 days on Mars....

Stop tagging people just to start a flame chat.

Are you serious? Moon and Mars environments are drastically different. Temperature swings on the moon is far greater than temperature swings on Mars. Not to mention moon has no atmosphere to protect the surface from solar radiation.

.
LOL.. The environment of Mars is not as terrible as Moon. Do Mars has situation of temperature dropping to -100plus degrees? It is no surprise, rovers on Mars has a more easy time than on Moon. If not, why India Vikram rover is designed to survive for a week only?
The Moon environment is very harsh, +100C to -170C i don't think he understands the challenges.

China still lags behind in science and technology, and hopes to catch up with the West in all aspects in the next 30 years.

Only in certain aspects. In many aspects China is ahead of US in space. Zhurong for example is first rover equipped with magnetometer, not to mention Chinese are the only ones who ever landed on the back side of the moon.

30 years? Are you serious? There are some apsect which American even need to learn from China like 5G, Quantum Space communication, Electric propulsion system and railgun. China already has a working 5G unmanned drone transport system while US are still scratching their head to figure out their system and management.

The most US lead China by 10 years.

It's gonna be awkward when China and US Mars rover see each other

This is significant accomplishment and display of technological prowess. Congratulations to Chinese friends.

Exciting times ahead. Long March 9 and Tianwen-2 Mars sample return will be the thing to watch in the coming years. On the back of the success of Long March 5 and Chang'e 5 moon sample return it should be good to go before 2030.

Yes and obviously exciting times ahead. Long March 9 and Tianwen-2 Mars sample return will be the thing to watch in the coming years. On the back of the success of Long March 5 and Chang'e 5 moon sample return it should be good to go before 2030.

Really naive question on my part but why is it called "Long March" and what does Tianwen mean? Hopefully someone can educate me on this

Why? They can do a robot dance off thing.

All joking aside the chances of the rovers bumping into one another are extremely remote. On average they move only a couple of meters per day, weather permitting.
