Chai-stall outside Bhakkar last remaining food outlet not closed by Punjab Food Authority
2 HOURS AGO BY KHABARISTAN TODAY
Bhakkar – Our Special PFA Correspondent: New Khan Chai Corner, a tea-stall seven kilometres away from the southern town of Bhakkar, is – of last night – the last remaining outlet not closed by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).
The stall’s status emerged after the regulatory body shut down Rehan Fried Chicken in Rahim Yar Khan, which was the province’s only other functioning food outlet.
A horde of customers were seen thronging to the stall from all over the province. “I haven’t seen this much business in my entire life,” said Said Alam Khan, the proprietor. “Earlier, I used to get twenty to twenty-five customers on a good day. But, right now, there are twenty-five million people waiting outside my stall for their chai and paratha.”
Mr Khan, who has had to upgrade his staff from a total of two (counting himself) to three thousand, is currently also mulling over the possibility of going into the steel and real estate sectors.
“I would cite the training my mother gave me to run a clean kitchen as the reason of my success,” he added.
An investigation by this paper revealed, however, that Mr. Khan’s cleanliness had nothing to do with the matter; a random bureaucratic, filing error at the department ensured that the PFA team did not pay the stall a visit.
