Can anyone explain what happened in Karachi beach?

I learnt swimming at the age of 4 or 5....But found it difficult in sea (initally) I am sure you knows the difference between swimming in a rough sea and a pool....

Water is water. The choppy waves on the beach only form at beach end.

You just have to be wary of RIP Currents and know how to handle them.

Other wise there is hardly any difference.

When I was in Pakistan Air Force they dropped us 10 miles out in Open Sea for two days ( Sea Survival Course).

We had to demonstrate ability to go in and out of the Dinghy without Mae West and swim in the open sea. Trust me, it was no different than being in a swimming pool.

You seems to be a professional.... But is that case with those poor civilians......most of them are gonna swim in the area where there is huge tides....

police imposed section 144 and stop them to bath in sea . but eid time people don't like any law or rules . massive pubic went to beach and bath 31 of them taken by heavy waves of sea and die . now everybody is perfect and stay away from beach .

PN send helicopters for recover dead bodies of missing in sea and they found some 33 dead bodies up till now .

I believe there should be (I dont know if there are or were) some kind of campaigns about "Safety First" ... careless and ignorant people are all around the world.... but we all have an instinct of survival... but first we need to know what is dangerous .......if after knowing this, you go against... then cant blame "natural selection"

And that is just the point. These people who go deeper and deeper in the sea water don't realize the power Sea Water. Every now and then such incidents take place and everyone is careful for few years and then we all forget the last incident and become careless.

I would like to see more TV shows on this issue to keep the public aware of the dangers.

thats why i said that all those people who went there should be scanned for some common abnormallity it has that angle weather pakistanies beleave it or not sooner than later it will come owt

its very very painfull to see dozens of people dying just like that and athurities sleeping over it and blaming high tidal waves

people are not stupid to go in deep water when they see the strong current in ways we all have some inbuilt fear factor for it and if we see just one guy strugglling there is panik and people start getting owt of water and running back to dry land but here it looks opposite as people might have dellibaraetlli ignoared it

i remmeber once i was on a goa beach intoxicated by "fainny" a type of chashew liquor *(desi goanies kaju ki darru) and was lying on beach and it felt like that water was touching my feet but after few hours when i came back to senses my friends told i was drowning thanks to some passers by they saw me in time and im still alive

moral of the story that you onli dont ressist drowning when your intoxicated with some alchohal or poison

We the Karachiities are telling you its because of the attitude of people & only they who are need to be blamed, local administration had marked the danger spots by putting red flags, but its a sort of custom in young people to go deep into the sea without wearing life saving jackets to prove their metal & bravery (plain stupidity) .....

You know we have a famous saying here "Samandar gaye or Srif Paar bego kar agey" ......

& for radiation angle dear Karachi have many beaches not just one or two this incident happened at two beaches which people visit generally more than other, 6 dead bodies are recovered from Hawkes bay beach. so in short if there was any "radiation" effect as you suggest it should be at all of the coast line of Karachi not just at that two beaches..... nuclear installation is at the other side of these two beaches.

You need to know that things like this have been happening for a long time now, the only difference is that since terror incidents have been reduced to some degree now...... hence media is reporting this accident......
