You feel pride in the appraisal of the Imperial colonizer?

A divide and conquer ruse , my friend. Something the British were excellent at doing.
Sir, it was these same Bihari Brahmans and Rajputs who led the 1857 rebellion ;)

No need to quote such reports that were based on divide and rule strategy,,,u got to be wiser than that but i may be wrong:coffee:

Precisely. Lord Cornwallis referred to Bengali conscripts as , "Native Black Troops." Total outlandish and racial remark , especially coming from the same man who lost the American Colonies a decade prior.

I wish someone corrected his Noble ar$$ness that the native people of Bengal , and India for that matter, are not "Black" or "African". Totally different geography, and color. With such arrogance and imbecility, no wonder he lost to the Americans in the latter's revolutionary war.

U cannot fault indians for falling prey to such cunning-ness 100 years earlier when you can see the OP doing the same thing even though he is aware of the history or might i say he is not??:azn:

The objective(s) of the Imperial Powers was nefarious as it was effective (unfortunately); use the innate differences of people and exploit that to maximum effect. Play on each others' sectarian and communal differences , and through that, gain the foothold to control the entire region. Classic divide and conquer ruse that the British used not only in India, but all over the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa and even to an extent in the Americas.

Yeah but fortunately for us they also made railways connecting different parts of this vast, culturally different country and thus paving the way for a unified nationalist movement for independence.

The main reason for independence was at best circumstantial though, with britain too weak and bankrupt to afford india as a colony after ww2.

@BhumiharTiger U better read history rather than boasting on lies propagated by the imperialistic powers to weaken the collective resolve of the people.

Sorry, they were not Bengali. They were from Bihar and the Awadh. Bengalis were considered to weak to join.

History has that much ironic episodes.Back in midevalh century, during Mughals and other Hindu kings rule in India Europeans came here for better life but natives in here always keep ad distance from them because of their European features and was a lot of fake stories about them .
But after centuries passed the same people came and divide us in the name of colour .Like you said they were the first that adopted divide and rule also on the basis of religion.A venomous hydra now threating them in the name of terrorism.
