Guwahati: A NDFB-Songbijit militant leading the arson following the December 23 massacre was on Friday arrested in Assam's Kokrajhar district.

"The police arrested NDFB-S insurgent Dipen Narzary alias Babailang alias Pahe from Kahugaon along with a 7.65 mm pistol with two rounds of ammunition and a grenade," IGP L R Bishnoi said.

Narzary had led the arson and burning of houses following the December violence, Bishnoi said.

Nearly 80 Adivasis were massacred by National Democratic Front of Bodoland-S extremists in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Sonitpur districts.

Two NDFB militants killed in encounter in Assam's Sonitpur | Zee News

Guwahati: Two National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Sonitpur district of Assam on Wednesday.


Acting on a specific information, a joint operation was launched by troops of Assam Rifles and police at Lakhipathar area, followed by an encounter in which the militants were killed early today, a defence spokesman said.

The security forces recovered an AK-47, a magazine, ten rounds of fired cartridges, five rounds of live 7.62 mm ammunition, a Chinese grenade and some personal belongings, they said.

The slain militants have been identified as self-styled 'Deputy Commandant' Sohiasula and self-styled 'Sergeant Major' Ratan, he said.

Three NDFB militants arrested by Maharashtra ATS | Siasat

The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants, who are suspected to have played a key role in the December 23, 2014 Assam massacre in which 74 people were killed, from Navi Mumbai.

The arrested trio will be produced before special ATS court today.

According to reports, the arrests were made from separate locations in Navi Mumbai area on Friday evening following an input from the intelligence agencies.

The arrested militants have been identified as Bisho alias Ansai Songa Basumatary, Swamkhwr Basumatary and Purno Narzary. They were all working at a cold storage in the Taloja area of the city.

The trio is also reportedly wanted by the Assam police in cases of kidnapping, criminal conspiracy and waging war against the nation. (ANI)

Top ranking NDFB(S) militant arrested in Assam | Zee News

Guwahati: A top-ranking militant leader of the NDFB (Songbijit), involved in the Adivasi massacre on December 23 last, was arrested during a joint operation of army and police from Chetnaguri in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Saturday.

The militant has been identified as self styled Chirang platoon commander "Samar Basumatary" alias "Sona", a defence spokesman said.

One 7.65 mm pistol, three live cartridges, one hand grenade and other materials were recovered during the operation leading to his arrest, he said.

"Sona", who received training in Myanmar, was a close aide of NDFB(S) 'deputy commander-in-chief Batha' and tasked to give training to recruits of the outfit at NDFB camp in Myanmar from 2010 to 2013, he said.

The militant is one of the senior most cadres of NDFB (S) and was directly involved in the massacre of Adivasis in Ultapani on December 23, the spokesman said.

He was also involved in snatching of weapons from Territorial Ecological Force in Kokrajhar district last year.

Tezpur: A 'section commander' of the NDFB (Songbijit) was killed in an encounter with a joint police and an Assam Rifle team in Sonitpur district of Assam along the Arunachal Pradesh border, a police officer said on Monday.

The hardcore militant identified as Elion Daimary alias D Engarlang was killed at Chariduar last night and one pistol, one magazine, four rounds of live ammunition, one motorbike, two mobile sets along with SIM card were recovered from the slain militant, said Sonitpur district Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parasar today.

The militant, who hails from Mazbat Bogoribari village in Udalguri district, was involved in various subversive activities, besides attacking several small tea growers at Rangapara in the district, Parasar said.

Meanwhile, in a humanitarian act, the 12 Assam Rifles was extending a helping hand to the family of NDFB(S) militant 'sergeant major' Raton Narzary who was killed in an encounter on March 31 at Lakhipur area, Assam Rifle sources said.

An amount of Rs 30,000 was given to Raton's wife and their two children - a one year old daughter and 3-year-old son - were adopted with both of them receiving Rs 2500 per month till they attain 18 years of age, the sources said, adding, his wife was offered a job at the Assam Rifles School at Lokora.

Five hardcore NDFB(S) militants apprehended in Assam | Zee News

Guwahati: Five hardcore NDFB(S) militants were apprehended in a joint operation in Assam's Kokrajhar district on Tuesday, a defence spokesman said here.


Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the Army and police launched an operation in Ripu Reserve Forest early this morning when they were trying to flee, the defence spokesman said here.

Two pistols, four hand grenades, nine cartridges and other war like stores were recovered during the operation.

The apprehended militants have been identified as Dilip Basumatary alias B Dawkhaw, Ananto Swargairy alias Agar, Philip Narzary alias N Puthaisala, Phukon Goyari and Sanjoka Brahma alias B Saogari.

Three of the militants were allegedly trained in Myanmar and were actively involved in extortion, kidnapping and killing, the spokesman said.

Ananto Swargairy alias Agar was also allegedly involved in the killing of Adivasis in Sonitpur on December 23.

Six NDFB(S) terrorists nabbed from Kokrajhar | Zee News

Guwahati: Six NDFB(S) terrorists were arrested from Kokrajhar district on Wednesday in a joint operation of the Army and the Assam Police.

"On specific intelligence provided by the Gajraj Intelligence Unit, six hardcore NDFB(S) terrorists were apprehended by the Army and Police in Parbatjhora Reserve Forest (Kokrajhar)," a Defence spokesperson said in a release.

The security forces have recovered a 12 bore rifle, four pistols, five hand grenades and other equipment, he said.

"On further interrogation, it was revealed by the terrorists that they were tasked by NDFB(S) to recruit new cadres from Kokrajhar and Chirang districts, carry out extortion activities and inform about movement of security forces conducting operations against NDFB(S)," the official said.

The apprehended terrorists have been identified as Gobla Basumatary alias B Gwnshwar, Preg Barmouh alias Daoharo, Shamkhar Musahari, Rahul Khaklary alias Ridung, Babul Narzary alias Kantiswar alias Gajen and Swarang Boro alias Tekeka, the release said.

The spokesperson added all six were Myanmar-trained cadres from the 35th batch of NDFB(S).

One NDFB-S militant killed in Assam, another nabbed in joint operation | Zee News


Guwahati: A NDFB-Songbijit militant was killed in an encounter with the security forces who busted a camp with explosives of the insurgent outfit in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district, while another one was apprehended in two different incidents on Friday.


Based on information about the location of the NDFB-S camp in Ultapani reserve forest, a joint operation was launched by a team of 2 Rajput Regiment and Assam Police yesterday and the camp was busted, IGP BTAD LR Bishnoi, under whose command the operation was conducted told PTI.

After busting the camp, forces from CRPF's 210 Cobra battalion, and 16 and 40 SSB battalions were mobilised for search operation in the jungle, Bishnoi said.

When the security forces were de-inducting they were fired upon by suspected NDFB-S cadres near the jungle of Laopani river and the party also retaliated in self defence, he said.

After the exchange of fire, the body of a slain militant identified as Busha Brahma alias Bushum was found nearby with a 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, four rounds of live ammunition and two fired cases and three hand grenades, one pouch, one bag, documents of NDFB and medicines.

Recoveries from the busted NDFB camp include 11 grenades, 200 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 43 SIM cards, including of Bhutan, one mobile handset, 42 blankets, mosquito nets, medicines and other documents, duty register, utensils, dry ration and vegetables, the IGP said.

The recoveries were made from 11 tents that could accommodate 35 cadres and three fortified sentry posts in the concealed camp.

A search operation has been launched to nab the cadres who fled away, he added.

In another incident, an NDFB(S) militant was apprehended at Chaygaon in Kamrup district by security forces while he was on his way to Goalpara from Guwahati, a defence spokesman said.

The militant was identified as Bisonjit Mushahary and a 7.65 mm pistol, ten rounds of AK-47 ammunitions, a 7.65 mm pistol, three detonators, safety fuse wire, a mobile and a diary were recovered from his possession, the spokesman added.

Four NDFB(S) militants held in Assam | Zee News


Tezpur: Four NDFB(S) militants were arrested in an operation by security forces in Assam's Sonitpur district on Saturday.


Acting on information about the presence of NDFB(S) militants in Maldang area, a joint team of police and troops of 36 Assam Rifles launched an operation in the area and caught four militants, Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parashar said.

The militants were trained in Myanmar.

An AK-56 rifle, four magazines, 37 rounds of live ammunition, two hand grenades and three mobile phones were seized from the militants, Parasar said.

One MULTA militant, two NDFB(S) over ground workers nabbed in Assam | Zee News
Guwahati: A Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (MULTA) militant and two over ground workers of NDFB(S) were apprehended in two different operations in Assam's Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.


Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the police and army launched an operation last night in Musalmanpara village in Gossaigaon sub-division of Kokrajhar district and nabbed the MULTA militant, a Defence spokesman said on Monday.

The militant has been identified as Waidur Rehman and a country made 7.62 mm rifle was recovered from his possession.

In another operation, based on specific information a joint search operation was launched in Kusumdisha area of Chirang district and two NDFB(S) Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were apprehended today.

The duo, allegedly involved in extortions on behalf of NDFB(S), have been identified as Prasanjit Islary and Biton Basumatary and a 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, a grenade and same other ammunition were recovered from their possession.

Tezpur: All Bodo Studens Union president Pramod Bodo on Tuesday gave a call to all those in the jungles, particularly the NDFB (Songbijit) cadres hiding there to come out to the mainstream for establishment of permanent peace in Bodoland.


Addressing a series of public meetings here at Batachipur, Hograjuli-Khawla Centre and Belsiri areas in Sonitpur district near the Assam-Arunachal border, Bodo asked the underground outfits in the jungles to come overboard.

"A section of misled Bodo youths are still in the jungle in the name of revolution. They should not waste valuable time of their life", he said.

The influential ABSU leader also urged the Bodo civil society to get involved in building an illegal-arms-culture free society.

Speaking on the negative impact of arms culture, he said it destroys the social fabric and also urged the people to create an alcohol free society and an educational environment among the students.

"We cannot allow anybody to spread the poison of intolerance in society," Bodo said.

ABSU has been carrying out a mass mobilisation programme among the Bodo people to create an opinion on bringing about a total change in the Bodo society.

Moreover, touching upon the land patta problem of the people of the greater area he slammed the congress ruled Assam government for depriving these people from their legitimate rights.

10 NDFB cadres killed, over 300 nabbed in five months: DGP | Zee News

Guwahati: During the five-month security operation against the anti-talks faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants, 10 members of the outfit have been killed and over 300 cadres and linkmen arrested, an official said.


Assam Director General of Police Khagen Sarma, revealing this on Tuesday, said the continued operation against the outfit also resulted in substantial improvement of the law and order situation in the hill state.

"We have also recovered over 100 sophisticated arms, including factory-made weapons, and 62.5 kg of explosives during our operations all these months in different locations of the state," Sarma said.

Assam Police in association with the central paramilitary forces and the army launched the operation against the NDFB faction, which is opposed to any peace talks, after the outfit massacred over 70 civilians, including women and children, in three districts of Assam on December 23 last year.

Giving the report card on five months of the operation, the DGP told the media that the operations were continuing and 343 cadres have been arrested so far. Of these, 204 were active cadres and the rest were over ground workers and sympathisers.

After the December 23 massacre, the central government ruled out any talks with the NDFB faction and sent additional companies of security forces to assist Assam police in its operation against the militants.

"We have received about 50 companies of paramilitary forces and they are still stationed here to assist the state police in counter-insurgency operations," Sarma said.

The state police chief, however, said that the outfit was still trying to set up its camps in Manas Reserve Forest in Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts and about 35 to 40 of its members were still moving around in the state.

He said the top brass of the outfit, including its leader I.K. Songbijit, has already shifted base to foreign soil like in Myanmar.
