What's new

Biden invites 110 countries including Malaysia, Indonesia & Philippines to democracy summit, but not Singapore?

.
Are the elected Corrupts from Pakistan also going to this "Democracy Summit"? These Freaking cheap democracy Drama Queens. :omghaha::omghaha:

.
See the list and see who are invited and from the news we can see who is not invited.

Every body knows that the summit is to isolate China ( the interest of USA), but Chinese influence is not that strong yet, except for some few countries. I believe many of them will go to the summit.

Coming to the meeting will be good for each country domestic political interest, this is something that US has been thinking, this is why US tries to exclude the countries that have been regarded as undemocratic by international standard. If US include his allies who has flaw democracy by international standard, the meeting will be seen as not genuine, then many will likely not attend because of that. There is a cost of this meeting, but US see the meeting has larger benefit than its political cost.

In short, there is a match between US interest and each country domestic interest. This is once again has been taught by USA and this is why they think many of them will come to the meeting

US calling the shot not because it's a flag bearer of 'democracy', but it's powerful

Do you think other than the old colonial rich and a few new rich East Asia, what democracies delivered the results?

Haha, with beacons of democracy invited to attend the meeting, like the US, India, the Phillipines, Siera Leone, Liberia, Haiti, Brazil, Mexico, Columbia, Honduras, Guatemala, Ucraina, Nigeria, Mali, Congo DRC, South Africa... (correct me if these countries are not) ..., the world can clearly see how great Western-style democracy is. Hunger (even in the US and UK), starvation, persistent poverty, unemployment, looting, shooting, murdering, arson, daily protest, etc. seem to be becoming the norm of every day life there.

Compared to the poorest communist (or former) countries, like Laos, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan.. they are.still world apart.

I dont know what will happen with Lira for the next month, even Iran also has very high inflation.

If our inflation is high then it make our currency value go down, in order to avoid common people buy USD which will crush our own currency value, Central Bank needs to increase the interest rate so that people want to hold our own currency. I dont know why Turkish economist cannot convince Erdogan with that simple analogy
Because Turkey was not completely brainwashed by IMF propaganda.
You think too much. Biden has a good relationship with SG when he was VP. He even joked that our PM is very persuasive and should try convincing other congressman for the US to join the TPP.

It's more like SG declined to join the summit, just like SG rejected the US's offer for us to be their ally. Why? Because we want to remain politically neutral between the US and China.

The summit is obviously an US attempt to isolate China. It has no real substance but full of political message. Joining the summit will tilt us towards the US.
Some countries may feel proud of being invited to the farce of Democrazy / Vetocracy / One dollar one vote/ plutocracy.
Let's go, Brandon.

It is not isolating China, such a summit cannot isolate China. USA is using this summit to prove itself, it wants to tell the world that the USA has not declined.
Only declining/decaying empire need to prove itself. A dominant power no need to do so.

It's a paradox that the more the declining/decaying power tries to prove itself, the faster it declines/decays.

.
Kindly Dont invite Pakistan....... Our establishment will be jumping on this invitation though :disagree:

.
USA cannot define what's democracy. So whoever is invited have nothing to do with democracy. Democracy isn't equal to vote. The first thing Democracy should do is to satisfy people's basic needs. You cannot call a country democracy just because they have voting system but people are hungry for food.

What is the difference between Singapore and Japan?

They both are ruled by the same party for a very long time.

So the difference is just based on the foreign government's eyes rather than the local people?

Who is insane here?

If a foreign government calls a country democratic while the local people are dissatisfied, what does it mean?

If other people call you rich and kind, but your children are hungry at home, what does it mean?

If other people call your wife hot and lustful, but she never had xxx with you, what does it mean?

LKY once said, if Singapore adopt Western Multi Party Liberal Democracy one day, it's the end of Singapore.

I may need some time to find the original videotape on YouTube.

There's actually no need for us to attend either... what's the point of this conference anyway..?

It’s difficult to convince someone who only believes to himself.
Turkish lira is down 90 pct against USD this year. That means in dollar terms the economy is down 90 pct. A massacre.

This will hurt not only common people through inflation but also government debt payment and private sector who has debt in USD. We will see what will happen until the end of 2021.

Turkey has high trade deficit, this make the fall of Lira hit the economy so badly. Erdogan will still be around until 2023
