Bhagavad Gita faces 'extremist' branding, ban in Russia

I understand, but it does mean that people that are born - in this life, their condition in it - is made possible by their "karma" of their previous lives. So according to the Hindu faith - Shudras are Shudras because of Karma.

Very interesting, thanks for that clarification - so the belief that Shudra's are born in to that caste, because of the Karma of their past lives, is a gross mis-interpretation of the Varna's?

varna the word comes from root word vrij..which means choice...a human being does not become brahmin, kshatriya, shudra, vaishya without taking his education...those who do not get educated end up becoming shudras and they are called as pillars of a society as they do all the hard work...a brahmin is called as dvija(twice born) because he/she takes deep education of vedas for most of the years of his life..

interestingly in many vedic verses word shudra appears before vaishya...

Lord Sri Krishna was Brought up in cow herders Family...

Karna & Ekalavya of Mahabharata Was Born in Sudra Family...

Lord Sree Ram was Born in Kshatriya Family....

Lord ParashuRama was Born was a Brahmin But Later Spend his Life doing the Duty of Kshatriya hence called as Brahmakshatriya...

Caste of person a can be interchanged according to Work he does...Unlike in Which Family he is Born...Many of Vishus avatars were Born in Different caste ...Avatars like Masya, Kurma & Varaha didnt even have a caste...

Cast-ism Became a tool of Oppression until some Idiot started Distorted the Facts...but in This century practicing Casteism is Unethical... & Thankfully its Vanishing at a Good Pace...

I feel Hinduism is the most liberal of religions. It is a rather a way life. It is really shocking that the Judge thinks that Gita contains extremist ideologies.

I understand, but it does mean that people that are born - in this life, their condition in it - is made possible by their "karma" of their previous lives. So according to the Hindu faith - Shudras are Shudras because of Karma.

Everything in creation is a manifestation of the sole Reality.

Evolution takes place over many, many life times. The actions you take (Karma) can either impede or expedite your evolution towards Divinity. The terms Shudra, Vaishya, Kshatriya and Brahman refer to different stages. A soul may go through many life times in each of those stages. The important thing to remember is that it is not hereditary. A Brahman is supposed to refer to someone who has experienced Brahma. We are talking about people like Ramakrishna Paramahansa or the Buddha. A society as a whole also goes through its evolutionary ups and downs. There are hardly any true Brahmans in the present circumstances. Does that answer the question?

it is not caste that vedas speak about..it is class...and class is chosen by an individual but caste can not be chosen.

It does to a great extent. Thanks for the clarification - so the Shudras according to this evolution - may have taken the wrong Karma paths in the their previous lives, so being born in this current state.

I added to that post later ... Also note that -

God, Soul and Nature (Prakriti) are three eternal entities that always existed and will always exist according to vedas...evolution that vedas speak of are during one's lifetime.

Many examples exist of change of Varnas in Vedic history.

a. Aitareya Rishi was son of a Daasa or criminal but became a Brahmin of highest order and wrote Aitareya Brahman and Aitareyopanishad. Aitareya Brahman is considered critical to understand Rigveda.

b. Ailush Rishi was son of a Daasi, gambler and of low character. However he researched on Rigveda and made several discoveries. Not only was he invited by Rishis but also made an Acharya. (Aitareya Brahman 2.19)

c. Satyakaam Jaabaal was son of a prostitute but became a Brahmin.

d. Prishadh was son of King Daksha but became a Shudra. Further he did Tapasya to achieve salvation after repenting.
(Vishnu Puran 4.1.14)
Had Tapasya been banned for Shudra as per the fake story from Uttar Ramayan, how could Prishadh do so?

e. Nabhag, soon of King Nedishtha became Vaishya. Many of his sons again became Kshatriya. (Vishnu Puran 4.1.13)

f. Dhrist was son of Nabhag (Vaishya) but became Brahmin and his son became Kshatriya (VP 4.2.2)

g. Further in his generation, some became Brahmin again (VP 9.2.23)

h. As per Bhagvat, Agniveshya became Brahmin though born to a king.

i. Rathotar born in Kshatriya family became a Brahmin as per Vishnu Puran and Bhagvat.

j. Haarit became Brahmin though born to Kshatriya (VP 4.3.5)

k. Shaunak became Brahmin though born in Kshatriya family. (VP 4.8.1). In fact, as per Vayu Puran, Vishnu Puran and Harivansh Puran, sons of Shaunak Rishi belonged to all four Varnas.

Similar examples exist of Gritsamad, Veethavya and Vritsamati.

l. Matanga was son of Chandal but became a Brahmin.

m. Raavan was born from Pulatsya Rishi but became a Rakshas.

n. Pravriddha was son of Raghu King but became a Rakshas.

o. Trishanku was a king but became a Chandal

p. Sons of Vishwamitra became Shudra. Vishwamitra himself was a Kshatriya who later became a Brahmin.

q. Vidur was son of a servant but became a Brahmin and minister of Hastinapur empire.

A clarification as regards Varna and occupation -

Although people of different Varnas are suited for different roles, Varna is a deeper concept than education, occupation or accident of birth.

There are Nutjobs everywhere...If Bhagwadgita is banned then i dont know which holy book should not be banned..
Irony is that it is being verified by someone who has no connection whatsoever with Sanatan Dharma.. However I am not surprised by this..The kind of following Hinduism is drawing, they were bound to become insecure...

I have read the Gita as part of my "india" orientation - process. What it says about the Shudra's was eye opening.

O great hero! The duties of Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and also of Shudras have been divided according to the qualities born of their own nature

In india - I met some Hindu people - who believed sincerely that Shudra's are responsible for their condition - because they were bad people in their previous incarnation.

Too bad for you, that "some" doesn't characterize whole India.

. .
Never claimed it was the whole of india, but it was present in a significant proportion of religious Hindu - people.

ha.....Never mind...Carry On...

let me clarify thing to all non hindus-
1)your destiny depends on your past karma. for eg- if you have murdered anyone in your past life than same soul which you murdered will take revenge in this life.
2)if you have more good deeds over sins than you will stay in heaven untill your account of all good deeds are over. than you will be given another chance to become human and if you have more sins than you will go to hell where for every sins you committed on earth you will receive 1000 times punishments. for eg- if you drink alcohol than in hell you will forced to drink molten iron( note - in hell you will be given indestructible body). and after your account of sins becomes nil than you will come to earth but you will not become human you will have to first take birth as all other living things and than you will be given chance to become human.
3) one thing to note that going to heaven does not mean to achieve salvation. if you want to get out of this cycle of karma than you will have to get out of this materialistic world and your only focus should be god. your soul only will get salvation when it gets to place where god live.
god has given this human life lets make it worthy regardless of religion because god only sees good deeds and his worship regardless of religion. i will like to post more about structure of world as per bhagvatan if you all wish.

1.It has been unfortunate that Muslims never really tried to understand his neighbor the Hindu seriously. Perhaps the first attempt was made by Alberuni in his famous treatise The India. Alberuni was the philosopher/historian of Sultan Mahmud of Somnath fame. Babar also made an effort as did the subsequent Great Mughals who commissioned scholars to study the people, culture, society and customs of Hindustan.

2. However, much of these work has been overviews and philosophical laying more stress on literary excellence of the output to please the monarch or whoever had commissioned the work. None of these work or none of the activities of Muslim rule or rulers really encouraged the Muslim to learn about the Hindu living next door or serving him.

3. In this aspect the English excelled. They literally dissected every aspect of SA's history, archaeology, languages, religions, culture, morals, etc, etc.
