How exactly is Mig-29 superior since as per the specs given above both the Mig as well as the F-16 block 52 detects each other at same range 120kms. Same stands for JF-17 same detection range of 120kms. Also there isnt much difference of detection range between the MKI and both F-16s and JF-17. The latter can detect an MKI at 138km while the MKI at 140. The difference is of just 2km which isnt much in real time scenario since imagine both jets coming towards each other at mach speed, 2 km difference wouldn't even matter before a pilot could actually lock on its enemy. So unless i missed something here how exactly did the author come to a conclusion of Mig-29 and MKI being on the top?

Wait...the new APG radars for BLK 52+ and MLUs, doesn't it have range of over 240 km?

.
same for SU 30mki is under process of upgrading and will be fitted with a aesa radar and many other making it more deadlier

He has good data, but a bit flawed analysis.

Fighters will never meet head-to head in a real combat. So many scenarios that we cannot put on paper here.

But none the less by stating the range of weapons and radars, we can make a guess, but only on statistical basis.

The MiG-29K's design relies on a combination of low-observable technology, advanced electronic-warfare capabilities, reduced ballistic vulnerability, and the use of standoff weapons to enhance the fighter's survivability.[13] It has a reduced radar signature according to Mikoyan from the extensive use of radar-absorbent materials. Special coatings reduce the MiG-29K's radar signature 4-5 times over the basic MiG-29.[13] Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) is provided by Israel. The alignment of the leading edges of the engine inlets is designed to scatter radiation to the sides.[citation needed] RD-33MK turbofan engine contains systems that reduce its infrared and optical visibility.[23][2

Armament
Armament for the MiG-29K includes a single GSh-30-1 30 mm cannon in the port wing root. This originally had a 150-round magazine, which was reduced to 100 rounds in later variants. It has provisions for laser-guided and electro-optical bombs, as well as air-to-surface missiles like Kh-25ML/25MP, Kh-29T, Kh-31G/31A, Kh-35U, rockets, bombs (including guided), KAB-500KR guided bombs and with an optional sight pod installed, laser weapons. Kh-31P passive radar seeker missiles is used as anti-radiation missile. Kh-35, Kh-31A antiship missiles are used for Anti-ship roles. For aerial combat Air-to-air missile like RVV-AE, R-27ER/ET and R-73E are used. On customers demand the aircraft can be adapted for using weapons of foreign origin.[18]

The range of combat missions can be increased by adding optronic sight pods as well as radar, infrared imaging and reconnaissance equipment.

Whats this crazy fetish with range of the radar or the missile, in my opinion thats a text book fanboy mistake and as we know our friend Storm Force is the biggest fanboy on this board with his crazy theories :D.

What about radar resolution cells, electronic warfare and the type of missile that is being carried by the aircraft. APG68(V9) radars are going to be installed on our F16's and they have a range of almost 300 km. But range alone is certainly overrated in my opinion and of many other senior members on this forum hold the same view. What sets this radar apart from its adversaries is its radar resolution cell of 30m as compared to Zhuk's resolution cell of 300m. Its extremely important for a pilot to break out individual inbound bogies because 2 airplanes might appear as one.

Electronic Warfare Suites: F16's will be armed with ALQ 211(V9) AIDEWS pods which are the latest generation of American EW pods, i would choose these any day over whatever other countries are offering because the US is still quite ahead in Electronic Warfare Technology as compared to their adversaries.

Now comparing missiles, its always good to see real world data as compared to paper data which is usually flaunted at our face by some of the members here. The Americans have a vast experience when it comes to designing missiles, all the experience they have gained in their previous conflicts with AIM-7 has been wrapped up and added to the AIM-120 series. The sheer R&D and extensive field testing that this missile has been put through definitely makes it one of the world's most tested and mature platform. Contrary to whatever the naysayers might say, i think its the world's most potent operational BVRAAM.

Add all these goodies up: APG 68(V9), ALQ 211(V9), armed with AIM 120 cued up to JHMCS and you have a match made in heaven :).

In modern combat only F16 been face to face every Russian plane and beat the heat out of Russian jets. Rest are all just mock fighters. Plus the pilot training.

.
The only important thing to understand from this article is that all modern fighters have pretty much same capabilities and it again comes down to tactics training and use of the other assets in conjunction with fighter jets that will determine the outcome of the war.
Though Mig 29-K which Indian Navy has ordered may have an advantage of around 15 Km and Su-30 MKI an advantage of 2 Km but these advantages in a practical scenario will be of no great significance.

So finally the fan boy claims that space age SU-30 MKI will shoot JF-17 and F-16 before they are able to see the SU-30 MKI bite the dust.

Amen to Storm Force ..no one else can create a masala thread. and worse his thread actually spawns multiple pages. :D

True Radar range is a bit over-rated. But so is Range resolution (a very imp factor).

There can be multiple scenarios where range resolution doesnt matter visa - vi MKI. Even if MKI is not able to differentiate amongst no of bogies - it still wouldnt mind firing a salvo of BVR missiles to put the other fighters on defensive; mki IN a2a mode will have plenty of missiles to spare. I personally believe MKI will never be used for ingress, it has to be Mig29 or MK2..MKI will follow the these fighters.

After the introduction of AWACS - it will be purely a war of attrition- there simply will not be any surprises left. Country which has its AWACS standing after a couple of days war will be the one which controls the skies immediately.

True. But i wouldnt discount Israeli EW's especially since they opted to field their own EW's on Sufa and not the US ones. That tells a volume of confidence that israelis have on their system.

Cant disagree with that.

not only fanboys dream buddy ,its reality face it ... I just don't wanna paste the specs here ,its waste of bandwidth nd time..
