Bentleys For Saudi Fighter Pilots

A rich father can gift his son a car only to bring passing marks in the exams, whereas a poor father could hardly buy his first class first son an OK quality pen. Things are relative and not static. We cannot and must not question how Saudis wish to reward their heroes, we can only and must question our government whether our heroes are adequately compensated or not.
They can reward them with anything.
I just pointed out that the situation which our troops face is not comparable to the situation their pilots faced.
Because you tried to compare both.

I never tried to compare. I was replying to Mastan saheb who suggested medals were enough. I only added that medals come with perks and a piece of land is one of those perks.

The 100 Saudi fighter pilots who participated in Saudi Arabia’s airstrike campaign in Yemen may be rewarded with Bentley luxury cars

If Pakistan would have participated in this war then dead soldier's families would have got Rs 200,000 around $2000. The soldiers should fight to protect their country not for rewards. The 4,000 Saudi billionaire princes should themselves march to Yemen border to fight to protect their family estate.

If i have money i will give Bugattis to the families of all the brave Pakistani souls that sacrificed their life for their country- and Lambos and Ferraris to the Ghazis-
nothing wrong in that-

Gifts are given as per giver's financial soundness. We have land to distribute, we do that. Saudis can afford to give off expensive cars, they do that. We are nobody to question how they want to use their money and reward their heroes.

Gift are also given tastefully and according to customs. I personally would give a shawl at a wedding instead of a chain saw. But I guess as you correctly pointed out. Pointing fingers at people having money or people having class is none of our business.

Bhai we are different; in KSA you have monarchy. You know how monarchy works. It is not about being tasteful or anything but about showoff, about showing your generosity so others sing your praise. Our customs and traditions are very different than those of KSA.

No doubt. But the reason people were upset with you was that no amount of common sense could defend such a custom. I do not think that would be something one of our more learned arab posters would justify. There is also a reason why it was deleted by the prince after it was announced.

Bhai I am not defending what they do, I am only defending their right of what they do. It is their money and they have all the right to do with it whatever they like to. We cant question their right. Secondly, we must consider their customs and culture and should avoid to judge other's according to our customs and cultures.

It's a monarchy yar. They have a right to do whatever the hell they want. Does that mean we can't criticize it? They have the right to flog the hell out of a blogger, does that mean we can't criticize it? Having a "right" to do something does not justify an action.

Yes you have all the right to criticize but only if their actions cause any damage to you. In this case, what damage is caused to us?

That is oversimplification. So tomorrow if an Israeli rapes a palestinian woman, we have no right to criticize it because their action did no damage to us?

You know you are going overboard and trying to compare not an apple with an orange but an apple with a brick.

I am just going in line with the statement that you can only criticize something if it does any damage to you.

Yes, gifting their pilots with luxury cars does not cause any damage to us or anyone else for that matter but committing a crime against humanity damages humanity and therefore your example is unrelated.

The customs of a few princes are not arab customs. Which is why the twitter feed by the prince was "deleted". I just went along with the word custom to ease into my explanation. But what they do is none of my or anyone's business sounds like closing the file on this discussion.
