Salafists reject all mazhabs. They have their own scholars which tend to be more extreme than most Muslims. Also many of them make takfir on other Muslims. Salafists enjoy support in many Arab nations, but are weak in Pakistan.

Deobandis are Sunni Hanafi Muslims (many believe Sufism as well.) They are orthodox Muslims similar to many Muslims in other countries. A lot of their political thought is also similar to the shias of Iran. As far as I know, most of them support PTI because they also tend to be religious nationalists and fierce supporters of Kashmir, Palestine, etc.

Imran Khan is a religious nationalist strivinthg for social justice and appeals to people of all ethnicities, languages, religions in Pakistan.

Sorry your statement is wrong. You don't understand the root cause of the problem. You cannot redeem Pakistan from any of it's citizens. Salafi/Deobandi are part of Pakistani community and for very long time we all have lived in peace. If you want to end extremist mind set in Pakistan shut the foreign funding of Madrassas.

What regardless of what percentages supports what... please tell me if there is any non-factual in my comment. Please tell me about the sectarian affiliations of Al-Qaeda, ISIS, TTP...etc please..
It becomes necessary to call a spade a spade and point to the real problem instead of sweeping it under carpet. I didn't say all Deobandis or Salafies are terrorists ...but most of the terrorists belong to these two sects...

But he does make a point:the vast majority of khawarij attacks in Pakistan are coming from Deobandi backgrounds...this is not to say that all Deobandis are like this. Why aren’t they coming from a Barelvi background? What is the reason for this difference?
I mean are Deobandis on average poorer and less educated than Barelvi’s?
