Why don't u list out some of the incidents where these so called secular minded people have displayed their intolerant attitude in Bangladesh ?

Rise of either of them is bad.....when both of them rises...then god better help us.....in 20 years you won't see moderately dressed women in streets....either they will be wearing very revealing clothes or they will be completely be covered in burqa. And both mullah group and secular group will get into clash.

I do not believe there will be a direct clash between these two group, but underlying tension will remain. This type of underlying tension between Islamist vs Secularist is present in many muslim countries.I can remember about Turkey, Egypt ,Tunisia, Indonesia etc.In many non-muslim countries also, this type of clash of values is present.In USA, it is between Evangelical/Conservative against Secularist/agonstic. In India, it is between BJP/RSS Sanghi vs Secularist.

Why r u consistently equating secular minded free thinkers with Bal politicians? BAL claims to be secular in their views but deep down their actions r still controlled by hardcore fundamentalists. if they were indeed secular they would not have bowed down to the pressure of Intolerant Islamists in every single time.

U want to have a sculpture of famous folk singer Lalon Shah in-front of the airport? Go take permission from the religious fundamentalists first. U want to build a statue in front of high court? U have to have the blessings of Babungiri for that o happen. This is Bangladesh. It portrays itself as a secular state to the rest of the world but its far from being a secular state.

@Nilgiri what @Anubis said before applies here.....two opposite kind of views are flourishing in Bangladesh....one is wahabism....talibanism..and the other one is radical secularism.

Our parents were moderate....moderately religious as with secular views.....but we are either way too religious..or way too secular(like me who is too secular even by Swedish standards)....well none of these are good for the country. If mullahs get too much power they will destroy the country like they did in Afghanistan....on the other hand the country isn't ready for total secularism(I mean my of level secularism) yet either..

This is the polarisation of BD I am talking about.....societies do not have cohesion if too much of it happens....past whichever you feel are morally more correct etc.

It can also fester and expand in stealth if there is too much (enforced) political "stability"...because one side will simply feel it is not getting any outlet/turn to do things more its way for the previous existing equilibrium there....like a supercritical boiler in operation (water doesnt get to boil, but is held by pressure force at higher than normal boiling temp...so it hides its nasty high temperature at cursory glance).

This video is nothing but a cheap propaganda. Significant portion of the video is devoted about some so called atheist and secular blogger. But did these so called journalists bother to show what these so called secular and free thinker blogger write on their blogs? Does those writings has any merits or even any quality? Primary focus is cheap attention seeking and to make some religious people angry.

I do not think anyone is even bothered if someone is atheist. If that guy becomes the flag bearer of BD then we are all fcked. Because he has rss type mentality. His dances are open in this forum. We need more properly schooled secular people from all origin. But if rss type people starts to dictate things in Muslim majority BD, as Islamic belief slayer it doesnt sound good. People take these easy from Muslim background/gharana people.
