i own several arms at my Peshawar home; mostly ''small arms'' and accompanying small-arms ammunition of varying sizes and types ......used only for hunting or ''recreational'' purposes. All registered. Stamped paperwork.
i am in favour of a nation-wide de-weaponization program. I do believe that in per capita terms, Pakistan is a very heavily-armed country. Certain parts of the country have always been heavily armed but it never really was a problem. People used to walk with their guns simply as an adornment (like in tribal areas) --often there was hardly a bullet in the chamber.
but with the ongoing Karachi violence, some serious and bold measures do need to be taken. However it wont happen, since ''reps'' within those parties and their extortionist backers maintain their own arsenals.
guns dont kill people.....people kill people. Weapons falling into irresponsible hands is always a big challenge to confront. With current security environment, a lot of policies need to be revisited.
