Average Pakistanis' take on guns..

i own several arms at my Peshawar home; mostly ''small arms'' and accompanying small-arms ammunition of varying sizes and types ......used only for hunting or ''recreational'' purposes. All registered. Stamped paperwork.

i am in favour of a nation-wide de-weaponization program. I do believe that in per capita terms, Pakistan is a very heavily-armed country. Certain parts of the country have always been heavily armed but it never really was a problem. People used to walk with their guns simply as an adornment (like in tribal areas) --often there was hardly a bullet in the chamber.

but with the ongoing Karachi violence, some serious and bold measures do need to be taken. However it wont happen, since ''reps'' within those parties and their extortionist backers maintain their own arsenals.

guns dont kill people.....people kill people. Weapons falling into irresponsible hands is always a big challenge to confront. With current security environment, a lot of policies need to be revisited.

Whats wrong with bolt action rifles.....these are Highly accurate and they are only being used by Home Guards now.... Police has been replacing their old stuff with INSAS and FN FAL phased out of Army.

P.S. There's a popular culture in my Village the man seen with a gun is the most pathetic and scared person..... and people feel pity about him.... the more guns a person owns the more we feel pathetic about his state...... even a 10 year old kid can assemble an AK in my Village.

Well, no body here gives two hoots about what you or your villagers think, lol as if Pakistanis should care about some "popular culture" in some indian village thousands of miles away.

Anyways i think aerial firing should be illegal as those bullets when fired come back down and can kill people.

I never held a gun, never seen one up close, and never had one either. The only gun i had seen up close was the one my dad's cousin had gotten converted into a wall decoration. I really see no reason why people should have big automatic assault rifles, a pistol should be enough to keep and threat at bay.

I had a very close cousin of mine who owned illegal guns right from the age of 12 only to be converted in a wall decoration himself his did also had a similar fate..... I feel pity about his mother.....

May he have some peace where ever he is is.

Idk for anybody else, but my region of Rajasthan, it is fairly common to see people with swords (ceremonial purposes). However there are places where people carry pistols, rifles and shotguns.

I can see why you have to keep guns then..... I am from Bihar and the District is the one which supplies the best firearms manufactured in my state.... won't name it you can look for it if Interested.

Sir,

People kill people even without gun..... It only makes the work easier for them.... and a bit hard for law enforcement agencies.

Yes those kids are the underprivileged Children of poor craftsmen who have lost their jobs and lively hood of manufacturing firearms from a big private company which worked here..... hence they have no other option other than manufacturing firearms.... but the same kids become arms suppliers and wreak havoc in my state aswell as my country.

Still any one who uses firearms to kill another person is called as a looser they are only used in Diwalis and Marriage ceremonise and to make living a big reason is the most peaceful environment which my District offers in my state inspite of being perhaps being the cradle of largest illegal manufacturing in India.
