Average Pakistanis' take on guns..

Though i do agree that weapons like the RPG should not be in the hands of civilians but there are certain circumstances where such weapons should be allowed to civilians but only under the Governments approval as is the case in the Tribal areas of Pakistan where local tribes have formed Tribal militias to keep Taliban militants at bay since the Army and FC are over stretched.
The terrain of the Tribal areas is very difficult and hilly therefore a AK-47 isn't enough to knockout Taliban fortifications which is where a man portable RPG comes in handy knocking out Taliban positions easily where an AK-47 lacks the punch the RPG does a good job.

Well If the case is what you are trying to convey about tribal areas then its okay to keep semiautomatic G3 type rifle may be..... to save their life in case of emergency Hand guns/pistols would still be better for them.....

Again its the job of Military and Government to clean that area and have proper protection for people there.... RPGs are a heavy weapon and it has been a while that it was seen with militants in Kashmir even here in India..... Having the civilian armed with RPGs can even kill state troops who are supposed to fight out the unlawful if some guy has some personal grievance from some foul mouthed soldier.

I was from Mumbai, where the guns are usually possessed by either the gangsters or the law enforcement agents & since I was neither, the only time I ever handled a gun in my life was in NCC (National Cadet Corps) in school. Anyway I never felt I missed too much because of that & was always of the opinion that having a firearm lying around at home was more dangerous than safety.

Never held one in my hand, never even seen one up close. Some years ago a friend showed me his tour pictures where they went to Dera with a French guy and they were shooting guns at the ground at some distance...that day I realized the pacifist in me was bigger than I knew because the mere sight of people taking pleasure out of the use of a weapon made me almost puke. But I guess the first experience at anything is always a little hard, maybe now I can even admire the engineering in a gun. I don't know if I'm an average Pakistani in the true representative sense, but I'd sure be if every one of us were an eccentric!

everyone should be like you to be honest, these people compain about criminals and all that but they own guns and all that crap themselves, i hate guns too, i cant stand people showing off with guns.
