Jana I am from Pakistan, however I am currently in the UK,no offence towards you at all.

I know almost every single corner of Swat, my cousin is also now deployed in Swat ( he is a major). I am always worried as my family lives in Swat and few of my family members were even kidnapped by Tehreek-e-Nifaze Shariat people when they first started this in 90s, as people from this Tehreek are against elections etc. and my family members do take part in politics and area matters. My uncle told me that he feels many militants are NOT local to Swat, and they have arrived from various parts of the country

No offense to you too mr

But i bet you on this Parwant is not a common name in Swat. i repeat i can bet on it.

Now as far Lashkar well what is the name of that Taliban leader from Bajaur ???

:) you know what most of anti-Pakistan elements including uzbeks and again people of Baitullah (who the Taliban and Mullah Umer is doubting and did doubt). his role too much doubtful, besides hez working in hand with anti-Pakistan Northern Alliance, and Co which you know who NA Co partner is.
Pluse hes also playing game of US to harm our relations with China.

anyway Imposition of Sharia is not something of any problem, the only Problem is now these foreign elements and enemies of Pakistan within Ranks of Fazlullah and Inshallah :)
im all Smiles today they are being wiped out in few days.

AS far sentimental well we are not we are debating it with links and logics not like anyone who claims and when caught come up with lame excuses.

Jana

Well So how much bet on the name Parwant lol?

If you refer it as lame excuse, it is NOT. Being from Swat, all this surrounds my own people and hence REAL PICTURE. Many people may be getting news from News channels, I get it from my family who live in Swat and see all the happenings themselves.

I feel the situation in Swat is different from Waziristan as it looks like people will support the Pakistani Forces as against to what happened in Waziristan.

The Taliban leader who has announced a lashkar of 10,000 to support the fighters against Pakistani Forces is Maulana Faqir Muhammad.

Long live pakistan for whom our fathers have layed their lives, boy what a waste.

Long live pakistan a toy for the military who do what they like.

Long live pakistan cuz it was made for punjabis and sindhis.

Dont steal and loot in pakistan, dont caryy out any crimes as goverment hates competition.

Awaaz is there any point to your posts?!

If your going to say something back it with reasonable arguement instead of posting trash.

Anyways just wanted to mention that people with name Parwant are not uncommon in Swat and they are still Muslims, the worrying thing now is that the Taliban leader from Bajaur has announced a 10,000 'lashkar' against Pakistani Military Forces, it will make the situation worse, I hope some solution is reached with dialogue. The best thing would be to implement the Sharia Law as promised by the Govt. in the past. Then even after Sharia Law, if someone acts in this way, they should be punished strictly.

I do not feel majority of people from Swat believe in voilence, but it is a shame that all this has spread even to the bigger cities, all the sensible Islamic scholars always say that you can NOT win hearts by voilence, teaching Islam with kindness and love is the best way. But as you guys and girls know, majority of our people do not have much knowledge and we easily become sentimental.

May ALLH, THE MERCIFUL bring peace back to Swat and in world, Amin!

No demands should be entertained until the militants lay down their arms - whether they are local or foreign. That is an internationally recognized principle. Th egovernment gave a very, very long time and plenty of opportunities to these people to lay down their arms - they refused. The choice and responsibility is theirs now, not the governments.

Amen brother!

But its so much easier to blame the "majority" or the "other" than to accept responsibility for our own actions. Awaaz doesn't even want the medieval tribal code touched - let alone allow reforms - the Tribal areas are where his "home boys roll", yet he has the audacity to accuse "Punjab and Sindh" for the problems there.

How about changing your attitude and supporting development, reform and modernization in the region Awaaz? You may find out that your biggest enemy and cause for backwardness is yourself.

I think that dialogue is must. Our Govt. has had agreements with local tribes in Waziristan. Swat used to be a very developed state before it joined Pakistan in 60s. The law and order was examplary, so was the education and health.

In addition to many things, Govt. has to think about it that why a peaceful area became a place of voilence, especially when a vast majority is against the voilence. I feel that when there were few issues eg. a single FM radio, few people against the Polio vaccination compaign etc., actions would have been taken, early action for law and order does prevent massive sufferings. I am sure in the very start this issue could have been solved even by a police SHO.

I agree completely that these issues should be nipped in the bud - but to handle the issue of Swat in that manner was the provincial governments responsibility, and who was in power in the NWFP? The MMA of course.

They dilly dallied and let their "home boy" Mullah run loose and spread terror, and it got to this point. The local administration bears a lot of responsibility for this. In the same token, the LM issue should have been handled sooner as well, and Ijaz ul Haq's role in allowing it to fester cannot be ignored - like father like son......

Army masses for operation in Swat
Sunday, November 18, 2007

MINGORA: The army looked set to increase military activity against militants in Swat Valley after fresh reinforcements of troops, tanks, armoured vehicles and other heavy weaponry reached Swat district on Saturday.

Within days: During a rare media briefing at the army’s headquarters, a senior commander said the army had assembled about 15,000 troops in Mingora, the valley’s main town, and would launch its main offensive within days because militants from Afghanistan as well as the lawless Pakistani border regions of Waziristan and Bajaur had reinforced the followers of rebel cleric Maulana Fazlullah in Swat.

General Ahmed Shuja Pasha, the director general of military operations, said they planned to push the militants back into the rugged Piochar side valley where they had established bases. “We will bottle up as many of them as possible and then eliminate them,” Pasha said. “This is our killing ground,” he added.

He said the army hoped to reopen the area to the public by the end of December.

Military spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad said members of banned Sunni Muslim extremist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had also rallied to rebel cleric Maulana Fazlullah’s cause.

He said the Alipuri area of Shangla district had been “cleared of miscreants” and troops were advancing to push them out of the rest of the areas. Eyewitnesses, however, told Daily Times that Taliban militants in at least 30 vehicles re-entered Shangla at 9pm on Saturday.

House ransacked: Locals said that the Taliban ransacked the house of former federal minister Amir Muqam in Alipuri and seized four vehicles. Militants also seized a bus from Alipuri College, a pickup truck from the district police officer’s office and two vehicles from the office of a local non-government organisation, residents said.

Murad Khan, a resident of Daulat Kalay Banda, claimed that eight Taliban were killed as the army rained mortars on a house where they had taken refuge. Murad, however, refused to talk about civilian casualties. staff report/agencies

Residents of three Waziristan villages told to evacuate
Sunday, November 18, 2007

MIRANSHAH: Authorities have served notices on residents of three villages in North Waziristan to leave their homes as a military operation is likely to be launched hours after a military convoy was attacked near one of the three villages, officials said on Saturday.

The villages are Qutabkhel, Tolkhel and Chasma, the officials said. “We have served notices on residents of the three villages to leave homes as an operation can be launched any time,” they added.

The notice was served four hours after a military convoy was attacked with a remote-controlled bomb near Chashma village causing damage to military vehicles and injuring two civilians. Local residents said people had started leaving their homes for fears of an operation by security forces. staff report
