Arjun Tank to Target Russian T55 Today

I know that @AUSTERLITZ guy and have debunked him pretty bad.

300mm @90 degrees from 2000m? Yeah right :rofl:

Prove it. The size and L/D ratio of that poor thing suggests a meager 200-220mm at best mate. Not more
..seems u r not reading the post properly or have some disorder.
@Bornubus wrote 500- 460mm @90 deg.
300mm @ 60 deg.
Time to retire??

Arjun is more suitable in Punjab plains and Rajasthan Border,where it would dug in for incoming enemy tanks, where as T 90 and T 72 are for strike corps and Invasion scenarios or so called Cold start doctrine.

This excuse is now getting lame- specially considering the fact that Russian themselves have moved to 55-60 ton mark for MBT, IFV and support vehicles- The Army must have Its own capability to make deep thrusts in enemy land- When Soviets moved inside Afghanistan they were not complaining on lack of Bridges, tunnels or strong enough infrastructure in Afghanistan or lack of It- they went inside fully mechanized and did quiet well-

For sustaining operation in High threat environment Army might require Merkava mk IV type safety measures which may not be possible on T-90/72-

The mandate of Soviet 40 th army wasn't the control of entire afghanistan,but chock points and supply routes but IMO is not fit for deployment in china border or similar terrain on western border,however our support infrastructure for Tank warfare is still based on Soviet Russian Tanks.

Isn't that exactly what is supposed to be the mandate of Indian Army- cutting supply/communication lines and controlling choke points-

Yes Chinese frontier calls for lighter solutions- I would say even lighter than T-72 more like below 40 tons and with safety similar to what T-90 offers-

Indeed these are speculations and POVs of rerd personnel but who nobody can be sure if Arjun wouldn't be use in offensive or invasion scenario.

As for China border there are pics available of BMP 2 with separate order of T 90MS and IMO India should induct Fire and Forget ATGM SPIKE in good number as the terrain is not good for tank warfare.
