South Korea's government started out as corrupt puppets of the US, but they built South Korea into one of the most successful countries in the world. I have no doubt that if South Vietnam survived, its government would've been able to do the same. The bottom line is that any East Asian society would succeed in a capitalist system, Communism is poison. The framework of a government is important for its future evolution. Even though the KMT was corrupt in the past, it would've eventually reform and evolve as the Chinese economy grew. It would've eventually lived up to the ideals that it was founded upon. But the PRC is founded upon Communism, which is an inhuman system, so they will never develop concepts of individual rights or individual liberty. Not to mention they spent 30 years plunging the country into deep poverty because Communism is a disastrous idea to begin with.

Chinese people would've also retained more of their traditional values and be better educated, more ethical and more worldly instead of being subjected to dehumanizing Communist ideology and forced to live through several decades of subsistence and ignorance.

One of the greatest tragedies in modern history IMO is the KMT losing the Chinese civil war to the CCP. If the KMT had won, today China would be a democratic, wealthy and civilized nation with a high standard of living, protection for human rights, a well mannered and polite society like that in Japan and Taiwan, the world's largest economy and a long time ally of the United States. China would not be aggressively nationalist but will be secure and established as an industrial superpower and have a cosmopolitan society that would be welcoming to people from all over the world.

That is not a what-if. KMT won China already before they got kicked out by CCP. In fact, there is no what-if in history. A slight change in condition could set off a huge variance in history.

Do u update the current situation frequently ?? South Korea has to cut the production of Phones, cars due to less ppl, specially US ppl willing to buy new phones,new cars now.

Not mentioning that if US collapse, then SK will disapear on Earth, too . NK artillery will destroy SK to ashes like during Korean war.

Wasn't it the USA which asked Chiang kai shake to hold back on the final assault which would have decimated the CCP cadres?
In fact at one point the americans were thinking of assassinating Chaing kai shake.

The USA has given China a lot through the course of this past century. The US saved the ROC from being decimated by Japan. The US gave the PRC access to world markets, trained hundreds of thousands of its best and brightest and basically taught modern China the ropes of modern capitalism. In fact, you can say that the US has been generous to a naive degree. In comparison, China's "ally" Russia has been responsible for the greatest loss of territory in Chinese history and the independence of Mongolia.

For Great Leap Forward . u only can blame Mao, can not blame communist idea. Soviet didnt support Mao this thing. VN also didnt have Great Leap Forward
