LOST IDENTITY: Operation in South Waziristan
Preparations are near completion for operation in South Waziristan agency. Chief of Army Staff visited FDL in SWA on Wednesday to boast moral of Troops. He also visited and spent time with officers and men in other agencies.
Army has been given orders to launch ground operation in SWA against TTP. Director General Inter services Public Relations Told media on 14th September that
Director General ISPR Major General Athar Abbas said the government had directed military forces to start their operation in Waziristan and the forces were looking for a suitable time to launch the operation.
According to Sources Pakistan Army Started its Operation against TTP in SWA on 19th June code named Operation Rah e Nijat. Pakistani Strategy was
To soften up the targets through Aerial and Artillery Bombardment.
Complete blockade of South and North Waziristan agency.
Intelligence operations focusing on breaking support base of TTP
Creating friendly Lashkers and Convincing other important Commanders and Maliks to remain neutral
The fruits of Pakistani Strategy have started coming out. Air and Artillery bombardment has damaged the morale of Fanatics. Especially after death of Baitullah Mahsud , leaders of TTP are hiding in caves or have went under ground to escape air attacks.
Blockade and crack down in SWA as permissible under FCR is making Taliban especially Mahsuds frustrated, who are now more willing to cooperate with government. This crack down is not simply being enforced in SWA but is enforced through out Pakistan against rebellious tribes. TTP men belonging to SWA and NWA are being arrested where ever they are found.
Pakistani Intelligence operations are also getting success. Killing of Baitullah Mahsud, Hakeem Ullah Mahsud etc and emerging differences between TTP leader ship are the results of these intelligence operations. Pakistani agencies have successfully broken Alf Khan Bhitani and Shaheen Bhitani from TTP. Both were known as loyal friends of Baitullah Mahsud.
In addition to the two friends of Baitullah Mahsud Changing sides. Turkistan Bhitani and Abdullah Mahsud group along with tribal lashkers are executing bold actions against TTP.
Today TTP men have attacked Peace committee members who were coming from Sarki Khel towards Bannu. This peace committee is formed by Tribal against Taliban. Immediately after this attack, a tribal Malik Jandar Khan Organized tribal Lashkar, who according to Sources have killed more than 10 militants so far and fight is still going on. This clash clearly manifest whats going on in taliban minds.
Many anti Pakistan circles who were critical of Pakistani Policy and Strategy assumed things in bias. Pakistan has only half million army. Most of Pakistani soldiers are deployed on border with India. It’s a necessity which Pakistan has to do weather it likes or not.
US top military commander General Mac Crystal has him self reckoned that Indian presence in Afghanistan and growing influence is source of destability in region.
Pakistani Government has evedence of Indian involvementy in terrorism in its soil. Indian weapons recovered from Taliban and denial of Afghan Taliban to any help to TTP clearly points fingurs towars India.
Most anti Pakistani web sites promoteing Pashtun nationalism and calling pakistani fight against terror have indian marks operated from India or its friendly states.
Propoganda in Indian media over Balochistan also tells whats in indian mind. Pakistan has time and again accused consulate of Jalalabad and Kandahar of promoteing terror in Pakistan.
In July this year senior US official William Burn gave Indian leadership warning to close their consulates in Jalalabad
… visiting US Under-Secretary of State also asked his interlocutors to trim India’s consulate in Jalalabad, which Pakistan sees as a distraction in the military campaign against Muslim extremists on the Afghan border.. .
Presence of Indian Soldiers in cover of Re-construction activities and in addition to 4 consulates, dozens of Indian Information Centers are promoting , equipping and financing terrorist in Pakistani Balochistan and NWFP provinces.
Readers can imagine when India is playing havoc from Afghanistan, what can it do if Pakistan removes its forces from International border with it.?
At present a Corp plus of Pakistan Army is engaged in Swat and Malakand in Counter insurgency operations, a brigade plus in SWA and another in Bajor. Pakistan army with limited resources is giving results.
Army has waited since May to Launch ground offensive in SWA because it wanted to bring Malakand/Swat operation to logical conclusion which by Grace of Allah is near its end.
At a moment when Pakistan is fighting for global war on terror, International media, especially the channels which people think are credible are busy in Pakistan phobic propaganda.
According to report on BBC (which now they have with drawn from their Urdu site) and remained their until Wednesday in which BBC claimed that Tehrik e Taliban Launched a Battalion level attack on night between 20th and 21st September 2009 ,on Pakistan Army’s Check posts in South Waziristan Agency. According to BBC, Spokes man of TTP Molvi Omer Khattab contacted them (there is complete blockade of wireless and Telephone in agency) and told them that Taliban have completely eliminated soldiers in those check posts and claimed he is sure 45 soldiers were killed. Omer Khatab also claimed that they have captured “All” heavy weapons from those two check posts. BBC published the full report without confirming it and when evidence came they removed it without any excuse or apology.
I have written in Past about blunders and yellow journalism of BBC. This blunder is latest in resume of BBC. This news was happily quoted by Pakistan phobic bill Riggio on his anti Pakistan and US power intoxicated blog Longwarjournal.( Interestingly many times the hyperlinks he gives in his reports brings reader to sites which says contrary to what he says).

Pakistani forces repulsed two overnight raids by Taliban fighters on security posts in the country’s lawless tribal region near the Afghan border, killing two dozen militants, security officials said yesterday.
More than 100 Islamist insurgents attacked an army post in the Mamasar area of South Waziristan district with rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles on Monday, triggering hours-long clashes that left one soldier dead and three injured.
“Our troops successfully repulsed the attack and killed at least 10 Taliban while their two vehicles were also destroyed,” said an intelligence official who spoke on the condition of anonymity
Summing up COAS visit reveals the ground situation in SWA. Chief of Army Staff visited the FDL because the area was secure and Forces were in control.
