After Statue of Unity, India to get world’s tallest Shiva Murti

So you guys need a big statue to know you can dream big?

No problem with the statues we do have Hindus in Pakistan....The question is what is the obsession or need for it to be big? It is clearly not for god....why waste so much money which could have propelled your nation forward?
Hindus... :coffee:

Building skyscrapers is actually expensive.
India has enough room to built homes.
And they do built homes for the poor.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/indi...rendra-modi/story-iGpDNr3IOMFKg35kODArMJ.html

Maybe they are able to build statues and houses for the poor?
Why not both?
If they are able to do so...Why not then?

It will be finished, but even so, it is still beautiful unfinished.
Is it?

That is your professional amateuristic opinion.
Opinions do not count as facts.
Science 101.
Yet to each his/ her opinion...I am not the only one...Well traveled people usually have a strong opinion on things:

Europeans who havent been outside Europe tend to like small amusing stuff like this :)

I meant to say, that although it is used as a church, most people (mainly tourists) visit it for the architecture (outside and inside).
True
Well, like I said, throughout history some culture might disappear (maybe by force) but other culture will be created (maybe also by force).
Or just be there!

Taj mahal...How much has India earned from it?

When you would look closer to home, your home, Pakistan, you must have learned in History classes that many of the Hindu and Buddhist culture (in what is now Pakistan) was destroyed by a different type of 'crusaders'.
Am I right?
More or less, we still managed to keep MUCH intact enough for people to come and visit and we dont feel the need to compete with Taxilla (Buddhism) nor our Churches nor our temples!

So, do Pakistanis not also have to make something new and speak about it, even though it is not grand?
Because some people already have done so.
Some people in Pakistan make a shrine for people who kill people who are critical of blasphemy laws.
That is just plain weird! Making shrine, wasting generations of money...all that could be spent on educating our children!

Is that grand?
Is that the new legacy of Pakistan?
I would have preferred Taxila, but hey, it is your country, your rules, your party.
I still prefer Taxila...History is History even before I READ this part I had already used Taxilla as an example....THAT is how proud I am of my history....it is our cultural heritage we appreciate it we accept it and we own it we dont compete with it we even teach our next generation to like it!

Also one of your opinions.
I do appreciate the input though.
Indeed it is! And it isnt ONLY my opinion...Just google how many have the same opinion :enjoy:

What's the obsession with size and mesurements in India these days?
Bigest this, talles that. Where does it stop. :meeting:

Its menifests the aspirations of new generation to do big and to be on the top of the world.

People seem to be missing this one.

If you mock the small, you are not worthy of the great.

Taj mahal...How much has India earned from it?

Well, India has earned a lot of money from the Taj Mahal.
But the (historical) price (as in war and deaths) needed to pay for it, was probably not worth it.

More or less, we still managed to keep MUCH intact enough for people to come and visit and we dont feel the need to compete with Taxilla (Buddhism) nor our Churches nor our temples!

No Hindu (other than the voices in your head) talks about competing with other religious buildings.

You do not have to prove yourself to me.
Prove it to the men with the beards.

That is a myth.

Even today it earns only 25 crores INR a year. which is paltry 3.4 million $ a year. This is what a small scale industry in India earns.

And the cost of maintenance and upkeep is 11 crores INR which is around 1.5 million $ per year.

So the total profit is around 14 crores INR a year.

This after sitting on 42 acre of land next to a River.

Even simple farming on that and would have yielded 4.5 crores a year.

A simple commercial complex on half that land will earn more than this.

Truth is Taj Mahal is a useless white elephant that is becoming more and more expensive to maintain every year.

Well, it depends on what you define as a lot of money.
I would not mind receiving $1.9 million dollars a year.

If it i still profitable, no one should complain.

Sadly a Nation of 1.3 billion people with 70 million below the poverty line cannot afford that luxury.

Here we need every peice of land to be productive. Not waste it on some useless tomb.

I just explained to you that its not profitable when you consider the Opportunity cost.

I know what you said.

You said that farming would provide 4.5 crores, yet the total profit of the Taj Mahal is 14 crores.
So, it still generates more profit than farming, am I right?

You also said that a commercial complex would generate more, but you did not say how much.

So, given the numbers you have provided me, it still looks like the Taj Mahal is the most profitable.

good lord.... Farming is the lowest level of productivity one can achieve on any land.

Let us assume one was to build a mall on that 42 acre. One acre is 44,560 sq. foot.

Now let us consider a conservative FSI of 3 for agra. which means on one acre of land, one can build 3 times the total floor space i.e. 1,33,680 sq. feet.

So on 42 acre one can theoretically build 5.6 million sq. foot of commercial Mall.

Now a conservative income of a Mall in a city like Agra would be Rs. 1,500 per sq. foot per month.

So for a 5.6 Million sq. foot mall, the total anual revenue would be around 8.4 Billion INR.

In crores that would be 840 Crores. INR. PER MONTH. or Rs. 10,000 Crores a Year i.e around 1.4 Billion $ a Year.

As compared to the 25 Crores INR the Taj Mahal earns now.

Do not take the Lord's name in vain.

I do not live in India so I do not know how much everything costs or generates.
If you wanted to convince me, you should have posted these numbers in your previous post.

But even so...

I personally like the Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal is part of Indian history and needs to be.
Whether you like it or not, India has a history where Mughals and Persians played a role.
And the last remnants of that history, one of it being the Taj Mahal, needs to be preserved.

I do want Hindus in India to build more statues, mandirs, research and development centres, museums, theaters, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges etc.
They should, however, not build this to compete with kingdoms from the past, but they should do this to create a foundation for a new civilisation: a true Hindu Rashtra.
A nation which never forgets its past and will be noble enough to preserve it and recognize it, but will also look to the future and will take the lead as Hindus.

Why do you like the Taj Mahal ? What is so special about it ?

What do you mean "last remnants of that history" ?

The only structures standing today in north India are the Muslim Tombs and Masjids built during Mughal days.

All the Hindu temples and structures have Long been destroyed. Most of our statues and art work have been smuggled out of India.

So I fail to understand your dramatic call for "saving" history and Taj Mahal.

Also I take exceptions to you mentioning my personal "like and dislike" for the Taj or any thing else. What gives you the right to comment on such things ? Your prejudice based on stereotypes caricatured by the Media ?

I don't give a rat's @ss to what you want.

I am more concerned about improving the condition of my people, rather than have them carry the Taj as a white elephant, so that some Suriname Indian can feel better about himself.

India does not need a "new" civilization. We are the oldest surviving civilization on the planet and we plan to keep it that way.

And No "Taj Mahal" is going to keep us from reclaiming our present and our future.

they should build world largest linghum idol as well now

I would rather have them dig some new lakes in Rajasthan for that money and build a park around that lake with medicinal plants and wild life.

But still the person who is spending the money, gets to decide what he wants to build.

After all , Mukesh Ambani built the Antilla.
