After Statue of Unity, India to get world’s tallest Shiva Murti

I though the topic was Statues, not India.
Suggest you improve your comprehension. It is a statue in India, and India alone.
All other countries are irrelevant and will be considered off topic derailment or flaming if used as cheap tangents.

Then feel free to discuss statues in India.

You can ask your questions about crosses to somebody else.

Great, feel free to let us and not comment on what we think.

So what we think is that this is another nail on the end of secular India and from our side should be celebrated as the rise of a Hindu India fascist state; something that was foreseen years ago and was the reason for Pakistan all along.

I want to see more statues, more mosques demolished and turned into temples and more Muslims and Christians prosecuted or massacred.
This is the logical conclusion to a reactive fascism and hyper pseudo religious nationalism.

This suits us so well that it is a godsend.

.
Taj Mahal was A shiv mandir. It needs to be reclaimed again

. . .
My question was based on that..Do you need a HUGE statue to know you can push boundaries? Considering that same money could be used in ACTUALLY PUSHING THE BOUNDARY??

There are different ways to push boundaries.
This is just one of them.
Stay tuned for more.:D

So, all this will be "discovered" while building an enormous WORLD RECORD statue not a skyscraper?

Well, I said maybe.
There are different types of buildings with different types of structures.
Skyscrapers are not the only type of buildings.
The Cathedral in Florence, for example, is also not a skyscraper.
Yet, when they tried to built the dome of the Cathedral they encountered many problems, which were solved by Brunelleschi.

Spending money on art did not bring about Renaissance....Renaissance was more than building statues and art work it also funded philosophy and science...

Not entirely true.

Background information about Brunelleschi:

Filippo Brunelleschi (Italian: [fiˈlippo brunelˈleski]; 1377 – April 15, 1446) was an Italian designer and a key figure in architecture, recognised to be the first modern engineer, planner and sole construction supervisor.[4] He was one of the founding fathers of the Renaissance. He is generally well known for developing a technique for linear perspective in art and for building the dome of the Florence Cathedral.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filippo_Brunelleschi

So, he is regarded as one of the founding fathers of the Renaissance.
Yes, philosophy and science were important.
Yet, architecture (which I see as an art) was also an important part of the Renaissance.
And those who created this art are still regarded as being instrumental in the Renaissance.

You think statue building is the same as building a stadium or university? If so, then indians can build the largest uni on the planet (for their world record obsession) and also learn the same "solutions", right?

I do not think that building a statue is the same as a university.
But certain structures and techniques which are used to build a statue may also be used to build other buildings or parts of these buildings.

And from history we can also see how money DID become a problem for all those who were busy building temples, palaces instead of investing in progress!

It cost a lot of money. That is true.
But there are also, for example, many modern projects such as infrastructure or IT projects which cost a lot of money and which fail to deliver what has been promised.

Reasons for the failure of government IT projects in Pakistan: A contemporary study (2017)
Link: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7996223

Only 15 percent of Pakistani government IT projects are succesful, which means 85 percent is failure.
How do you feel about that?
Will this become a problem for those who finance it (as in the Pakistani government)?
If the majority of Pakistani IT projects fail, why is Pakistan still executing IT projects?

'Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results'

Ahh...so india is lacking legacy? Too many monuments from the Muslim legacy "attracting tourists" and the need to balance it?

There is no need to balance anything nor is India lacking legacy.
Yet, a legacy does not need to be static.
Culture has always been dynamic.
Some culture might disappear throughout history and new culture will be created.

A legacy today has been made in the past.
The legacy of tomorrow will be made today.

These statues will be the legacy of tomorrow.

Well Eiffeltower isnt about a religion
Christ wasnt in a secular country when it was built
Washington monument is not for praying

Well, you said in one of your earlier posts: 'No problem with the statues we do have Hindus in Pakistan....The question is what is the obsession or need for it to be big? It is clearly not for god....why waste so much money which could have propelled your nation forward?'

So, if you think that these statues are not for god, they will probably also not be used for religious activities such as praying. Am I right? So why do you bring up religion at the examples I have given you?
None of these statues (my examples and the statues that are being built) will be / are used for God, but they will have or had their effect on the cultural legacy of a country.

Bad examples! Build a museum then compare to these :D

Do you know about the Sagrada Familia?
The Basilica designed by Gaudi?
Many people visit this Cathedral and not for praying, but for its beautiful architecture.
It is the architecture that counts with these type of buildings, religious or non-religious.

1) Wiki
2) ONE OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS....

He was an architect :)

So India is trying to revive statue building legacy?

Couldnt the space be used for other useful things? Like building a skyscraper to provide homes?

Do you know about the Sagrada Familia?
Yes unfinished ...even the locals claim it is a waste of funds! So, India still didnt learn their lessons from these?
Way overrated!

With those yes coz there isnt much else to promote....The crusaders destroyed too much of the previous architecture so they needed to make something new and spoke of it for centuries even though it isnt that grand! I actually saw Gaudi's work.....But I wouldnt go specially there to view it!

Dead and buried.

His legacy still lives on.

His homeland a ruin.

Afghanistan? Yes. But the rest of his empire isn't doing that bad, most notably Lahore (his winter capital).

The land he sought to ruin- prosperous

Not quite, but it's getting there.

If there was a rematch today the central asians would be massacred. When there is no cavalry, from tigers they become mice.

It wasn't just Central Asians. Iranians, Afghans, Pakistanis and even Indians fought in his army (obviously these nations didn't exist back then, I'm only using modern terminology to make the conversation more smooth).

If there was a rematch today, the result would be nuclear genocide. Nobody would win.

Rich coming from you...hypocrites
Not everyone in India is a hypocrite.
Majority of Indians are hardworking individuals with a goal to succeed in life.
They don’t stop living for the sake of reaching somewhere after death.
So don’t love death so much...!

Here, a different link which gives an introduction to a book written by an educated man:

2) ONE OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS....

Yes, he was one of the founding fathers.
But being recognized as such confirms that architecture was an important part of the Renaissance.

He was an architect :)

So? It is good, honest profession.
Are we feeling a little bit snobby today?
Must be the weather.

So India is trying to revive statue building legacy?
Couldnt the space be used for other useful things? Like building a skyscraper to provide homes?

Building skyscrapers is actually expensive.
India has enough room to built homes.
And they do built homes for the poor.

https://www.hindustantimes.com/indi...rendra-modi/story-iGpDNr3IOMFKg35kODArMJ.html

Maybe they are able to build statues and houses for the poor?
Why not both?

Yes unfinished ...even the locals claim it is a waste of funds! So, India still didnt learn their lessons from these?

It will be finished, but even so, it is still beautiful unfinished.

And how do you know that locals claim it is a waste of funds?
Show me a source, or show me silence.

Way overrated!

That is your professional amateuristic opinion.
Opinions do not count as facts.
Science 101.

It is used as a cathedral and for praying also!

I meant to say, that although it is used as a church, most people (mainly tourists) visit it for the architecture (outside and inside).

With those yes coz there isnt much else to promote....The crusaders destroyed too much of the previous architecture so they needed to make something new and spoke of it for centuries even though it isnt that grand! I actually saw Gaudi's work.....But I wouldnt go specially there to view it!

Well, like I said, throughout history some culture might disappear (maybe by force) but other culture will be created (maybe also by force).

When you would look closer to home, your home, Pakistan, you must have learned in History classes that many of the Hindu and Buddhist culture (in what is now Pakistan) was destroyed by a different type of 'crusaders'.
Am I right?

So, do Pakistanis not also have to make something new and speak about it, even though it is not grand?
Because some people already have done so.
Some people in Pakistan make a shrine for people who kill people who are critical of blasphemy laws.

Is that grand?
Is that the new legacy of Pakistan?
I would have preferred Taxila, but hey, it is your country, your rules, your party.

I actually saw Gaudi's work.....But I wouldnt go specially there to view it!

Also one of your opinions.
I do appreciate the input though.
