Afghanistan national army CAPITULIATION. US withdrawl

No choice but to save face, sunk costs, sunk political capital etc. The US after 9/11 was warned again and again not to start wider wars and destabilise entire regions, they did it anyway. Al Qaeda and not the Taliban attacked them, but that did not stop them from overthrowing the Taliban government, and then get the other side of the Afghan civil war (then known as the Northern Alliance, now known as the Afghan gov't) to power, this included giving the Northern Alliance the reigns to power in places where they were hated and had no business ruling.

So what the US inadvertently did is intervene, set up an artificial political system, with artificial power dynamics, pick one side of an on-going civil war that predated 9/11, and then fail at repeated opportunities to bring disaffected and taliban-like elements to the political process, several attempts were missed to treat the taliban as a reality and to build consensus (Bonn Agreement, Loya Jirga, Afghan elections)...

And what happens when you don't give people political space in which to operate legitimately? They won't just go away, they'll fight you as insurgents on their own terms.

Basically the US tried to relegate them to terrorists and treat them only as an armed militancy/nuisance, they completely missed their political importance, and they underestimated both their military resilience and they were completely blind to their presence elsewhere.

This delusion continued for some 15 years before engaging politically with the Taliban began being seen as an option in Washington. We went from an absurd "we do not negotiate with terrorists", to "'let's negotiate with the Taliban and get out asap".

They were simply outlasted

With the speed at which this is happening, the USA may not be able to leave Afghanistan taking essentials they thought they could take out.

So anyone, who didn't become stooge of India/USA and their appointed criminal and corrupt thugs is "illiterate" !!

Regressing on Economic front!! What economic front!!
You mean the billions YANKS were spending to hold on to their power!
That was not Afghani Economic policies. They were policies of occupiers .
ANA rule would have been more progressive then Taliban. Because it was under American influence.
Let things unfold.
I'm sure I would be proven correct in a few years.

Very well put and couldn't have said it better.

This war also provided China and in some aspects Russia breathing room for 20 years to catch up. It's a lost two decades for the U.S. that they will never get back, and this also taught Russia and China what capabilities U.S. has and how to counter them.

On top of this U.S. has opened multiple fronts in Europe with Russia, East Asia with China, and a tinder box in the Middle East. All that is left is to light the match for the next global conflict.

These changes I'm sure would take place:
  1. Taliban would change their name to something else, of course to try to appear as a normal party/ group
  2. Gulbadin Hikmatyar would be the next president/ PM/ Head of state
  3. Government in Afghanistan would be entirely pro- Pakistan
After presidential system is established in Pakistan, things would become a lot more favorable to both afghanis and Pakistan.

The last time Bengal fell like this to the Turkic Akinjis (horsemen raiders)! Only 17 Akinjis conquered Bengal in the 14th century without chopping off a single head....

Waging war against the innocent Muslim folks has become unaffordable and too expensive for the USA....

Let it be a lesson for the other “worldly” powers....

Pakistan should ensure that Indian proxies are eliminated at the earliest. Any threat to Pakistani people should be eliminated in Afghanistan at its roots.

The long-term inevitability of this region is Pakistan having great relations with both Iran and Afghanistan. It can't be any other way.

Where are indian terrorist training camps in Afghanistan ? Time to hit them hit these scum hard now
Taliban will eradicate these pajeets from India and hang them on Hindu Kush mountains

I think the Talib's realized they were very far right on the conservative scale, and foreign fighters made up more of their ranks than locals. What we are seeing is more likely a revamp and more induction of local Afghan's to make it more homogeneous and local to the country.

I could be wrong, but what you think and from people you know?

You are right. Infact the taliban are now against those international fighters, who are in form of daesh now mostly. Taliban have realized that those foreign fighters are mostly sent and have hidden agendas. Taliban were kept in dark by these fighter groups and in the end had to face consequences. Their leadership in qatar and Pakistan have had alot of international political exposure and have learned alot.
One thing though, they have always had majority local pashtuns, mostly from eastern and south eastern Afghanistan. But they did have alot of foreign fighters.

I suppose the Taliban are happy that the Americans supplied so much equipment to the ANA. :-)
Americans made sure to give bare minimum to ANA. Afghan Air Force now that's where the gravy lies for the Taliban.

How many trillion dollars and no schools hospitals road. Nothing

All lies
U.S generals and weapons companies made tons of money and a hell lot of corruption took place.
One thing I really really want is for the Taliban to start a vicious campaign to eliminate child abuse(bacha baazi) from Afghanistan it is a huge evil.

I saw some of the prices of the aircraft that the Afghans 'paid' for. I think most of the cost of the deals are in bank accounts in switzerland.
