That's probably not a good idea. Colonial history has shown that while white colonies like Canada and Australi prospered, nonwhite colonies like India was exploited. In the end, the only ones you can depend on are yourself and your compatriots. Foreigners who do not plan to stay will only extract, exploit, and destroy your country.

well thats a fair unbiased conclusion,the white colonies prospered during the time,but not the black one including India and south africa both rich in natural resources.

Don't get me wrong, I think democracy is great... in "developed" nations.

"Developing" nations however, are a different story. Look at Nigeria, Columbia, Sudan, etc... all developing democracies.

Actually, they did a pretty reasonable job with the urban centers of Bombay which they built from scratch and did a pretty decent job in Calcutta too before the Indians took over and screwed both those cities. It would not be fair to compare the Hong Kong of 1997 to the Bombay of 1947 - just look at pics of both cities in the same year. So, I will give credit to the Brits where it is due - they did a much better job in building and maintaining urban centers.

I went for the nominal numbers. In terms of GDP per capita (PPP) which is used for calculating "standard of living", Hong Kong is actually in the top ten in the world. Singapore too.

The issue of interest is Singapore's financial health compared to Hong Kong and not the demographic pattern.

I would take it that there is no good reason to be cleverer by half.

I didn't forget Delhi - I omitted it on purpose - this is because Delhi was already a major urban center in India since pre-British days - so barring areas like those designed by Lutyens, Brits played a very small part in building Delhi as an urban center but both Bombay and Calcutta were built almost completely by the Brits - even today both these cities' architecture is a lot more western than those in other cities.

Well thats true,but that was also the reason I told that if they stayed longer the current Delhi would have a different image completely,meanwhile I dont consider all this as pride or achievements,we all r happy with the Delhi,Mumbai and Kolakata we developed.

Obviously you have no understanding of psychological responses to depressants like alcohol. The symptom he is displaying above would be attributed to a stimulant like caffeine or perhaps even a natural disorder. In the case of the latter it is really quite pathetic how low you have to stoop.
