I dare to be true: nothing can need a lie.

I might add that the truth is the most valuable thing we have, so I try to conserve it.

Therefore, seek within and you will have the answer.

It is also important that many forget that a lie may take care of the present, but it has no future.

Yes, I can see the truth, that "non-democratic" Hong Kong has a GDP per capita that is 30 times higher than that of "democratic" India. And a MUCH higher standard of living.

So yes, it really does feel patronizing, to have Indians constantly trying to lecture me on Democracy, when I can see the truth clearly with my own two eyes.

It is not about the name of the political system, it is about how well the people are able to develop their nations.

If we ever leased out one of our major urban centers to the UK or USA for a 100 years and have them develop it as a nation state, we will definitely compare that urban landmass to Hong Kong.

No you just " leased" out India to UK for 200 years. Hows that going?

Your entire country was taken by the British for 200 years.

Why doesn't it look like a big Hong Kong?

Mainland China is the one who is starting to look like a big Hong Kong. Shanghai is already set to pass Hong Kong in GDP.

What about Shanghai? Shanghai's GDP/capita is 10x that of India on average.

actually here the reverse happened,London and Manchester grew more in size thanks to their 200 yrs of occupation.

Anyway comparing an entire nation with a population of 1.2 billion with a city is not fair.

That's probably not a good idea. Colonial history has shown that while white colonies like Canada and Australi prospered, nonwhite colonies like India was exploited. In the end, the only ones you can depend on are yourself and your compatriots. Foreigners who do not plan to stay will only extract, exploit, and destroy your country.

Yes. Let us see the "facts" do the talking.

How is "democratic India" doing... compared to "non-democratic" Hong Kong and mainland China?

Actually, they did a pretty reasonable job with the urban centers of Bombay which they built from scratch and did a pretty decent job in Calcutta too before the Indians took over and screwed both those cities. It would not be fair to compare the Hong Kong of 1997 to the Bombay of 1947 - just look at pics of both cities in the same year. So, I will give credit to the Brits where it is due - they did a much better job in building and maintaining urban centers.

Just as a point of interest, how does Singapore compare with Hong Kong and Singapore has no big brother to help either!
