But singapore is farrrrrr richer and more industrialised than vietnam (who is still a mostly agrarian country). So its normal to see singapore perform better than vietnam in swimming. Even surprised to see they have never won any medals in world swimming championship before this.

Bit disappointing China didn't send Tang Yi and Jiao Liuyang and Sun Yang and Ning Zetao skipped the relays. If China sent its best team and the top swimmers took part in the relays, China would have more medals.

I think China's strategy is to allow younger swimmers to develop and gain experience in the world champs and build up that depth so that they peak at the Olympics.

World champs is like practise run for the Olympics.

Lets hope China becomes a dominant swimming nation on a consistent basis. Got to end the Western stranglehold on this sport

I don't get how India is not participating in any global competition. They suck at academic and that's understandable. But to suck at sports too? Even African can produce some world class athletes.
