RAWALPINDI: At least thirty terrorists, including foreigners and key commander, were killed during aerial strikes in Tirah Valley on Wednesday.

ISPR said Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets carried out early morning strikes and pounded militants’ hideouts in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency near Afghan border.

Pakistani troops have been engaged in a full-scale offensive against Taliban and other militants in North Waziristan and Khyber tribal districts since last year. – Samaa

in october operation khyber 1 started with aim to gather more intel and search strike ops to extradite high value targets.
it slowed down as zea sped up. mid march khyber 2 started with increased number of strikes based off of intel gathered from khyber 1. this is the final ops to clear khyber agency from militants i believe.
tirah valley is one of the main places where taliban move in and out of afghanistan-Pakistan and have stronghold alongside mangal bagh so this area was still out of control of PA but now we've begun to recapture it. strategically, this tirah valley is super important.
source : read this entire thing couple weeks back on tribune, cant get the link.

This is an example of the effectiveness of the military operation launched by our ally Pakistan. Operation Zarb-e-Azb is a testament to the commitment of our allies and ours in eradicating violent militants from the region. We realize that fighting and ending an insurgency is the toughest form of conflict but through cooperation and coordination we make every effort to succeed. General Lloyd Austin III, Commander of the U.S. Central Command, has acknowledged and supported Operation Zarb-e-Azb in his testimony to U.S. Congress, stating, “The Pakistani military's recent operations to clear militant strongholds in North Waziristan and other FATA regions and to prevent the militants' return have achieved near-term successes.”

While recognizing these achievements Gen. Austin also reflected on the current progress in U.S. – PAK relations, “In December 2014, we addressed respective expectations for the scope and scale of our future military-to-military engagements. We also prioritized our security cooperation at the Defense Consultative Group Conference with the goal to help Pakistan to build additional capacity in support of their counter-insurgency and CT operations and other common objectives”, he stated.

We are also conducting multi-lateral regional military exercises to boost our coordination and response to regional security threats. We hope that together we can diminish the threat of violent extremism that has plagued the region.
