Thank god, the Sri Lankan one is not an LTTE punk as previous times. What a refreshing change.

I was actually expecting more Pakistan-origin candidates winning from both Labour and Conservatives.

There is no surprise over Sadiq Khan being re-elected. Same is true for some of the other candidates. The biggest surprise for me was the Bradford-West seat where George Galloway lost to Naseem Shah.

It was also good to see Rehman Chishti winning from Gillingham & Rainham (kent) cause despite the fact there is now small but significant population of South Asians living in Kent, it is historically been the area dominated by white British so it's good to see them putting trust on candidate of South Asian origin.

Disappointing knowing many of the Pakistani candidates are part of the Labour party.

I go to Kent for couple of times per week. You live in ME7/ME8 postcode or around? I have a friend who lives in Rochester and I am seriously thinking to relocate to Rochester. It's only 40 minutes drive from my home so very easy to visit relatives home in London.

Rochester, Gillingham, Sittingbourne, Chatham and Maidstone are more like my second home since past 8 months as I have to go to there for couple of times per week to deliver goods

The thing is the housing is cheaper here you get a lot more for your money. And like you said london is only up the A2.

hmmm so you basically live after Chatham and Gillingham but before Rainham. Somewhere around A229. I might have seen that tesco as I know most of the areas in Kent but it's not coming in my head. I know Darland...

What I like about those areas is the peaceful environment. You are never going to face long cues unless there is an accident on M-2 or you are stuck somewhere around Gravescend near the Gurdawara etc. Most of the kent especially Rochester, Gillingham and Maidstone are respectably busy but not congested. You get free parking wherever you go, cost of living is relatively cheaper and people are also a lot more friendly.

What's the average rent for a studio?

And another plus side is the south asian community is big enough so you can get everything locally.

It's a varied price just like anywhere in UK. It also depends on the area you plan to live.

In Maidstone, there is a posh area where each property is worth over 2 million pounds but same is true in London where you easily find properties worth over 10 million pounds. But in general, property is around 25 - 40% cheaper. You can easily rent a studio for around 500 pounds per month, again depending on the area and the condition of the studio.

3 Bedroom house is less than £1000 and would easily grab a bargain for around £700 pounds
