What's new

24 South Asian origin MP's elected, British general election.

Most sources suggest that the South Asian population is about 7% of UK's population. That is somewhere between 4.3 million to 4.5 million

It is not only about the number of seats they managed to secure. Many South Asians would have lost the seats too so they basically are active in politics.

It is not Pakistan where the reserved seats for minorities is required, you can contest election for as long as you are eligible.

It will hopefully be ready by the time my future children will start walking on their feet :smitten:

I surprisingly didn't know about this project, just googled it to know such a massive project on my doorstep.[/QUOTE Its a huge project i think work going to get underway next year.

It's already become my second home as I said earlier. Just need to pack my bags and relocate

I spend more time in Kent, Essex, Cambridgeshire and East Midlands than my home in London. It is true for working hours of day time.

did the son of ex MP Sarwar contested?

He had won in the last General Election

His son Anas lost to the SNP.

I used the data from the 2011 census, I'm sure we have seen a rise to the numbers you stated.
Some Asians lost their seats, but there were more successes this time round. This is the highest count we have had ever.
