12 Megaprojects to Go Live in Three Months (Bengali Video)

. . . . .
I am really concerned about massive corruption that has taken place in implementing these projects. Corruption will eat up maximum benefits from these mega projects.

People put up with corruption because at least projects are getting done.

Everyday citizens in Bangladesh see no hope in getting rid of corruption in the short term. Regime change may bring temporary relief to rampant corruption. But administrative people from top to bottom are now corrupt (and Thanks to BAL, politicized). The culture of "get rich quick" is pervasive. Every govt. officer needs 5/6 flats in Dhaka as income-getter and have to have a fleet of cars, one for every family member.

Peons in govt. offices have 3/4 apt. complexes in Dhaka city. These peons are minting money working in Property registry, Passport, Election commission, foreign ministry, police and other offices. Any service you need, you have to hand out massive bribes, usually 10K taka for a single service.

Hindu Bangladeshis who left for India have come back to Bangladesh in massive numbers because of this. They are appointed to higher govt. positions and can make money in very rapid fashion.

Until stiff sentences are handed out and examples made in publicized cases, this will keep happening. There will be no respite in the short term.

Meanwhile we still need to streamline traffic and logistics in Bangladesh and set up export infra, which cannot stop.

Hasina hai to mumkin hai!

Mullahs bomb whilst Hasina builds.

The only thing Hasina builds is her massive Swiss bank account.

Things are coming to a head though.

Second wave of sanctions are coming from the US, and they are going to target Hasina's cohorts now.

The US is stepping up its game. :-)

No amount of sifarish-ing by Modi and BJP to US will help.

Modi and Co. is shamelessly begging the US to lay off of Hasina - US is paying no heed. It's all over the news today.

Wow!

Uncle Sam is going to empty Hasina’s coffers lol

If it can at least stop further drip via Singapore - that would be nice.

It would mean relatively corruption free BAL reign for another decade.

But ofcourse Uncle Sam won’t cut the hands that feeds it bankers 🤣🤣🤣

I heard that the third terminal will be inaugurated in October. Can they finish the rest of the work within so short time?

I trust the Japanese and Koreans who are involved, they have done this many hundreds of times before. They give you a date, you can count on it, like the sun coming up every day.

However October will be 'soft launch' - meaning only some partial functions of the airport will be available.

Not all 26 boarding bridges (12 in first phase), or all 12 conveyor belts will be available in October 2023, neither all of 115 check in counters or 59 arrival immigration counters. Out of the parking for 37 aircraft planned, only half of them maybe available initially.

There are new high speed taxiways (exits from the main runway) being built, they may be in progress as well.

I am hearing there will be a new runway (relief one) available too - they have been talking about it for ages. That may be built sometime next year - not an immediate need. An airport serving this many passengers can't have a single runway.

Annual passenger handling capacity at Dhaka Airport will increase to 20 million from the current eight million, and cargo capacity will go up from 200,000 tons to 500,000 tons.

As impressive as it is - this terminal and airport is an interim step which will be turned into a regional air operations or short haul international flight center like old Gimpo airport in Seoul.

A completely new international airport akin to Seoul (Incheon), Beijing (BCIA), Shanghai (Pudong) and other mega airports (with around 60 or 70 boarding bridges) will be built outside Dhaka at some point, which will serve truly long haul flights and about fifty million passengers a year around 2030. Now that will truly be a world class airport befitting Dhaka!

can any of these survive a devastating nuclear strike from India ?

you guys should make bunkers, not bridges.

We will import gobar sourced nuclear defence from India and employ it to great effect to frustrate your war efforts.
