It’s time for celebration, as 11000 city-based Sindhis and Sikhs, who migrated from Pakistan and Afghanistan prior to December 31, 2009, get Indian citizenship.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has reduced the minimum stay period of migrants of both countries from 7 years to 2.6 years. The orders in this regards were issued on Friday.
The Narendra Modi-led BJP Government has given this gift to over 1 lakh migrant Sindhis (Hindus) and Sikhs by granting them Indian citizenship, who completed 2.6 years of stay in India.
General Secretary of Sindhi Samaj, Indore (Regd) Prakash Parwani said that over 11000 of both the communities, residing in the city, got the benefit.
Out of them, 6,000 have already completed 7 years stay in India while the rest 5000 have completed 2.6 years of stay in Indore (India).
Parwani further said that local leaders of the Sindhi community had been doing efforts for long. After, change of power at Centre, a delegation of the local Sindhi leaders led by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on July 24 and 25, respectively, in New Delhi.
The delegation acquainted both the leaders about the problems being faced by these people. The announcement made by MHA on Thursday is considered to be the outcome of those efforts.
It is to be noted that the Government of India on November 13, 2014 gave a number of concessions to Hindu and Sikh refugees from Pakistan and Afghanistan. The govt also relaxed procedure for granting them Indian citizenship.
Rajnath Singh approved the proposal for manual acceptance of applications for granting Indian citizenship to minority community nationals of Pakistan and Afghanistan, who entered India prior to December 31, 2009.
PM fulfills his promise
Narendra Modi, during poll campaigning in West Bengal and Rajasthan, said that Pakistani and Bangladeshi Hindu refugees would be treated like Indian citizens if he became Prime Minister.
One lakh in country get benefit
There are about one lakh minority community refugees from Pakistan and Afghanistan living in India. While approving the concessions, the Home Minister directed the Foreigners Division of his ministry that the grievances of these applicants should be addressed.
The move came two months after the Ministry okayed the setting up of a task force to monitor and expedite the process of the citizenship and Long Term Visa (LTV) applications of such persons.

Pm Modi is doing what he has promised giving asylum to hindu and sikh minorities in India.
We don't give a damn about what you thinkHaryanvi's were Punjabi's and we have not forgotten that. That is why.
That's the reason of my surprise!
Yes, that's what I said, the Sikhs in Bangladesh talks in Punjabi among themselves but they are also fluent in Bengali.
Dekhan lag raya su aar hasan bhi lag raya hu
Sikhism also teaches the Dharmic principles as its core teachings, But with a touch of warrior ethics.
Regarding reservations, laptop schemes and Pilgrimage payings
Reservations are needed since some of the communities are oppressed for centuries in India. The social fabric of India needs to maintain equality. The sooner this equality is achieved the sooner these reservations will go.
Regarding Pilgrimage for a minority sect, economic help goes to the poor who cannot afford the money for the pilgrimage which involves thousands of Kilometres.
These schemes are encouraged because of economic backwardness of these people and are needed.
We don't give a damn about what you think
What Dharmic Principles are you referring to?
A dalit or SC or Special Community person was given a Sarkari Job for emancipation of his family in 1950. His son also got Sarkari Naukri and his Grand Son always gets it. Further, his grand sons, son would get it? Yeah Kaisa Secularism hai? 67 years were/are not enough!
Ya ya, bread 20+ kids and live in Ghetto for centuries and get special privileges?
Why no same law for everyone?
The Guru had familiar and common beliefs as in Hindu concepts like Karma, Dharma,Reincarnation, and meditating on God's name.
These are the basic teachings of Dharma and the basis for Sikhism also. Buddhists and Jains also believe the same
Praying and some rituals may be different, like dressing and all, But similarities count on what you people and Sanata Dharma people believe.
Other similarities in rituals
Here are some of the similarities between Hinduism and Sikhism:
- At the time of the Gurus, most Hindu Punjabi families would remain "Hindu" while the eldest son was a "Sikh."[1] Hindus enlisting their eldest sons in the Khalsa was done for protection against the Mughals.
- Many Hindus, particularly Punjabi Hindus, visit Sikh temples. For instance, the Hemkhund Sahib is a high-altitude lake in the Indian State of Uttarakhand is regarded as a pilgrimage site by the adherents of Hindus [3] and a Lakshman Temple and Sikh Gudwaara exist close together on the banks of the same lake there.
- When a Sikh dies, cremation is the preferred method.[11] This is the same in Hinduism, although this is a cultural similarity between many cultures.
- Sikhs may also do the 'immersion of corpse remains' in a river after cremation, as Hindus do, although this is not a requirement; ashes may be deposited anywhere sentimental.[12]
- Both have almost the same wedding rituals and traditions, especially North Indian weddings such as Lavan Phere, Paani Vaarna, Mangni/Shagun, Rokka, among many others. The groom carries a sword and is accompanied by a younger nephew or cousin known as a sarbala.[13]
Every scheme has its drawbacks. There are still people in Villages in large numbers who needs social uplift.
These days Corporate jobs offer more pay and better life. They are large in number. Govt. Jobs even do not offer pension these days.
I agree to the fact that the reservations should be there only for the entry level.
