100 foot Chinese God statue covered after Muslims threaten to break down

Better than being killed for blasphemy.

Even Westerners in Western countries like France get butchered in large numbers for perceived blasphemy (Je suis Charlie), now imagine how Ahok will survive in a Muslim majority country like Indonesia. Him being in prison has saved his life.

And Ahok should be glad he is in jail despite the many things he has done for the locals? All trust, confidence etc all being erased because of the perceived blasphemy? How about the credits for the many good things he has done during his governorship? If i dont know better i would say the average muslim indonesian are bunch of sheeps easily to fool by muslim extremist cleric despite the avaiblity of facebook, youtube and other social media.

The muslims from France, Germany and other western europe countries didnt even realised the price they are paying for their deeds. The european muslim might winning this battle but losing the war in the end. Committing killing in the name of Allah on christian countries is useless. Despite political correctness in Western open society by politician, local white native people still care about their culture. Thats why right wing extremist parties are rising in Europe. Its true they lost in the last election, but they are rising and confident enough to give the political correct politician like Merkel chill to the bone.

Have you any idea of the huge unemployment among the muslims in western europe? The difficulty to find job, housing not to mention the stigma muslim get in the society where they are treated like invisible citizen and not part of the european society despite living here for 50 years?

But now lot of Indonesians coming back to Hinduism leaving Islam specifically eastern Java.
Indonesia,UAE and Pakistan are safe havens and better countries for hindus worldwide.
Meanwhile india is running out of hindus that's why rss started the ghar wapsi project to save them. Poor guys I feel bad for them they can't even build a ram temple of their choice. Their cries can be heard all over this forum.

Yes, if he didn't go to jail he would have been killed for sure. At least he is still alive, for now.

When the riot of 1998 occured against the Ethnic Chinese Indonesian, only ROC/Taiwan lodge protest against the horrible treatment/killing. Mainland China kept silence about it under the guise of no interfering with other nations's affair. I can tell you that it was the turning point for the oversea Chinese about how they viewed mainland china/PRC.

That's true, the ROC have always cared more about foreign nationals.

Whereas the PRC cares more about Chinese nationals.

.
indians believe people outside of india are sub-humans.

I don't think they actually believe that. It's a deliberate hyperbolic 'misprojection' of self wielded as a defence mechanism against the ingrained self doubt and inferiority complexes; Small dog syndrome.

Yep, we have always suspected that kind of behaviour. You just more or less confirmed the attitude of the PRC. I guess blood is thicker than wine doesnt apply to the average mindset mainland chinese (government). After all with 1,3 billion mainland chinese to care, what is a few thousands dead oversea chinese anyway? It is always Singapore and Taiwan who act on behalf of the oversea chinese in South East Asia when the local ethnic chinese is being targeted for pogrom. What a shame, fortunately the younger oversea chinese are waking up to the reality and must not rely on PRC for anything and vice versa, PRC shouldnt count on us for help either. Thats a Quid pro quo attitude we should embrace and no more ambiguity.

I was very aware of what happened in Indonesia during 1998.
Many of them came over to Singapore and relate the atrocities committed.
PRC then is not able to help much and would only worsen the situation by interfering.
ROC is better placed to intercede because of its relations with the US, but even then the US did nothing to help.

South East Asian nations were still suspicious of China and it wouldn't have helped but may instead exacerbate the situation. Reinforcing the notion that the Indonesian Chinese are agents for then still communist China.
Anyway those that I meet personally didn't expect any help from the PRC but was rather looking towards the US to help which did not come.
I believe China now have the clout to intercede for Indonesian Chinese wellbeing but not openly.

How Indonesia and Malaysia want to treat their own Muslims, Hindus and ethnic Chinese is their own decision. Personally I think all of them are going to suffer due to the recent radicalization. Significantly.

There are lots of Chinese statues and antiques well spread around the country. Take for example the statue of Zhang He in central java. People don't know the purpose of the guan yu statue and it's unknown for them, unlike Zhang He who were a famous historical figure. It's normal that people need to know what and why the statue were built in public place.

Needless, the Chinese has much more history here than Indians. Perhaps you're interested to look for them?

Another historical Chinese figure would princess ong tien nio, the wife of sunan gunung jati, one of the 9 nine Islamic saints.

The cultural festival includes her love story.

I don't think it's about majority, but it instigated by bunch radical mafioso under the name of religion. Sadly 'majority' of our common citizen very easy dragged into this mafioso provocation. I hope our president Mr. Widodo aware this threat and tackle this problem once and for all, under Soeharto regime these radicals never existed, till now. Idk why have idea build giant statue like that?

My cousin sister also fled to Singapore during the anti-Chinese riot. She still love living in Jakarta and had no problems going back.

How should I know why they do that? Maybe they believe in loyalty to race/ethnicity instead of loyalty to country/nation?

Citizens have a duty of loyalty to their country of nationality first. If they choose to put their race or religion over their nation, how are they different from the terrorist/extremist Uyghur groups in Xinjiang, who put their race (Turkic) and religion (Islam) over their loyalty to China.

Com'on man, most of the people here call overseas Chinese who even appear to harm Chinese interests as Hanjian.

I have already lost count on how many people have called Lee Kuan Yew as Hanjian. Similar was the case with that US ambassador to China who was Chinese.

Who is expecting a pity from you??? Are you on high??

You Indians like keep crying to get attention over Hindu temples got sacked but when people realize the truth face of Indians such want to stir up trouble between China and Muslim world, Chinese nor Muslim will have no sympathy nor pity for you guys...and I don't expect you to earn my pity...because you guys got what you deserve.

.
indians have a worse mentality than peter scully.
The country want to turn Wahabism and follow Saudi. They will destroy their own country

Well the reason should be more simpler this statue is FUCKGLY, look at the finishing touch colour and the design. Kwan Im statue in siantar is just finished and there ia no backlash over it because it beautifully made and there is no norak and provocative colour
That's just typical excuse.

Are you nuts? Two years in jail for not breaking any laws. Indonesian are intolerant and racist to Chinese because of their success.

Guan Yu represented courage, bravery, and brotherhood which many triad members worshiped. I thought it fit well with the Muslim extremists. LOL
