    Pakistan-China Joint Air Force Exercise "Shaheen-IX 2020"

It also depends on the Air-force as how the categorize the platform. For Instance, USAF considers F-16 Light and F-15 Heavy, while PAF Considers JF-17 Light and F-16 Medium category. Nigerian on other hand could potentially categorizes the F-7s as Light and JF-17 as Medium based on their...

Pakistan Army Aviation Corps - Updated

Ideally it should be two variants, one high end other the work horse in larger numbers. I personally don't see three different variants in PA service specially if PA is also looking at ATAK-II variant as well in the future. With ATAK-II this scenario will turn into a logistics nightmare...

Pakistan Army's T-129 ATAK Helicopter Deal | Updates & Discussions.

No, they have spent pretty penny and lot's of time for their engine development. It's similar to Pak sharing their Nuke tech just on the name of Islamic Brotherhood.

Featured Project Azm: Pakistan's Ambitious Quest to Develop 5th Generation Military Technologies.

No Thesis, just an old man's rant. Message was that just PAF being it's sole customer the cost / unit will be high. Long story short, for people that are concerned about what it will cost, you can't place "Price" on your defense.

PAF's equivalent of PN's 39A ? just imagine for a moment, on loan till newer built units arrive.

Featured Project Azm: Pakistan's Ambitious Quest to Develop 5th Generation Military Technologies.

Question would be as to who would be the export customer(s) ? at $100+ Million, it would be very hard to find one, the ones that can afford likely be operating F-35s for a while by then or have their own program to build one or already building them. Egypt ? highly unlikely that they will get...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

For Engine, I do not see an Option from West: French, Safran --> Susceptible to Pressure, in bed with Indians. Very slim chance if any that they will sell to Pakistan. UK RR --> Better chance then France to sell, however can cave under US pressure more then the Frenchies. Sweden: Copy of US...

Expaning Airbase and making HS for 40+ PLAAF J-10s to be housed there ? ;) Now after completion, someone needs to photoshop 40+ J-10s once again for kicks and giggles.

Is the Wing-Root hardening done referring to station 2 and 6 ? the outer wing pylons, not to be confused with wingtips.

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Thank you for the info. As for further order, perhaps this info of f16.net "In November 1981, the Block 15 introduced MSIP Stage I changes to the F-16A/B starting with subblock 15Y and continuing through subblock 15AZ. More than a year earlier, in February 1980, these modifications were already...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Odd, I know that I will date myself, however, most of my research ( based on Jane's Defense Journal, 1983-84 ) if I recall correctly stated that PAF stuck to it's desire for the Radar ( APG-64/66 ? do not remeber the exact model ) and that APG Radar (Black and White) was on board the delivered...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

F-16 inferior ? because PAF f-16 A/B came without AIM-7s ? I thought that PAF F-16s came with top notch ECM and targeting pods of that time. The ECM would have negated any edge IAF may have had with Mig-29 / M2K in BVR.

Wow, that's a huge U turn by you, none the less great news for PAF, rock on PAF.

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

IMHO, F-16 choice by ACM ( Ret ) Shamim was the right call, I ( call me biased ) don't think that M2K would have fared well against IAF IAF was offered F-16s back about same time when PAF ordered it's F-16s, however IAF rejected it complaining that US offered them inferior product. Now if PAF...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

What other options ? I do not know, Chinese only had F-6s, UK Tornado and France M-III/V or M2K. I was rehashing ( Cliff Notes, para-phrasing, summarizing ) what ACM (Ret) Nur Khan Wrote in an article. He was of the opinion as to not add any newer platform and just stick with what PAF had or add...
