1. All those ToTs dont happen openly. and are damn costly.. i'll accept something like a ToT for A-darter for paksitan etc.. when i see a credible info on it .. and not a speculation.
Currently IAF is facing a huge fighter jets shortage in the medium term and the defence planners are getting restless about it. Forcing india to renegotiate even SU contract to get all the 140 local planes by 2012.( instead of 2017) as originally planned.... replacing older SU's by new MKI's...
one can make 16 planes in next 9-15 months.. but using a single prototype of FC-1..finishing the FC-1 programme .. all the testing ( as most will be redone due to airframe changes).. and weapons integration ... just cannot finish it in 9-15 months....

about N011M's detection range.. a general google gives out 400km detection range for 20 sq m RCS ships.. i.e a 336 km range for a 10 sq m target. Please recheck your figures for the same.

from the cockpit its just a button.. but it needs changes in the FBW to understand that theres a TVC in a plane and take advantage of it.
Add to it that center of gravity of the plane will change due to addition of extra weight on the tail.. for MKI it was balanced with the heavier radar in...
