What's new

You were ambassador from Pakistan and changed sides. Pressler to Haqqani

I can get that off Wiki. Being born in Karachi does not shed his ethnic background. Is he a ethnic Sindhi? I make that assumption on the Zardari connection???
Sorry, I have no idea. I know that his father was also born in Karachi... So I guess that does make him ethnically Sindhi. I have no knowledge of if the other side of his family migrated from a different province.
I just tried to Google his father; his name is "Muhammad Saleem Haqqani". I can't find anything.

. . .
Hussain Haqqani and his wife Farahnaz Ispahani were both born in Karachi. They have 4 children. His wife is a journalist and she was an advisory to the president up until 2011 or 2012 if I remember correctly. They and their parents are from Karachi. I have no idea of his family history prior to that.
Hope it helped!

His wife is the granddaughter of Pakistan' s first ambassador to US and was very close to Quaid Azam. He also donated his personal house in US to Pakistani govt which is now used as official residence of Pak Ambassador to US.

Interesting, I didn't know this. Thanks for the share!

Money and power makes the world run but don't forget this beautiful country of ours has also produced many great things! An example being Dr Abdus Salam and Mahbub Ul Haq.
I know it's off topic but... :offpost:

Chasing money and power should not mean that one's nation has to be sacrificed. This type of behaviour seem to arise when the individual considers himself separate from the nation state. We should still strive to gain power and wealth, but not only keep it for ourselves, but also to share it with our people and nation. I just don't see this in Pakistan, I commented earlier that when it comes to running individual businesses etc, Pakistanis become great entrepreneurs and innovators but when it comes to running state institutions, we drive them in to the ground just to benefit ourselves individually.

I wish out of everything else, we would teach our young ones to become inseparable from the nation, and to consider the honour of it as equal to our individual honour, our shame as the nation's shame. Our victory as the nation's victory and our defeat as the nation's defeat. Perhaps then, we may stop producing so many traitors.

.
Why am I not surprised. They are shameless people and as soon as PPP won the election if they won the election. He will come back again and have his position again :) Zinda hai bhutto Zinda hai.

Chasing money and power
The biggest money lovin power lovin people you will find is Jews. Try buying them out though? Money is one thing but being connected to your soil is another. Take me. I have residual connection with Pakistan. It has done nothing for me. However I would never brook anybody talking ill will about Pakistan. Never. I would never sell out Pakistan. I often think why this is so. Trust me it is not religion. I think in my case it is all about my father, his father and my ancestors. They lived on tract of landfor god knows how long. That land - part of which has just recently been shared out by my dad to us siblings is . It's carries the memory of my generations. I would never sell that land because it is a legacy. That legacy happens to be in Pakistan thus I would never sell out Pakistan. Tp be honest I am also very pro British. The only time I would have problems is if Britain and Pakistan clashed. Let us hope that never happens.

And I also think if a person gives up their legacy they will sell out again. Once sold always sold. The only thing left is the price. Take Britain. Can UK trust me? Yes but like I said it comes with a "but" and that "but" is Pakistan. I have soken to some English about this and they felt uneasy at me expressing my feelings for Pakistan. I told them if I had no feelings for Pakistan anything I would have for Britain would be useless. Because if I can exchange the land of my ancestors so easily surely I would sell UK easily as well. Therefore much as I was not prepared to give up on Pakistan they could trust me whatever loyalty I had for UK was rock solid - except if it involved Pakistan.

@Kaptaan Mr. Haqqani seems to have taken an Indian bend...

My Pak Friends....his excellency the former Pak Amb. has done pretty bad PR for Pak by his switching tendencies...
What is Pak State going to do about this?

Any self-respecting country would have done the necessary. Treason after all is rather danger fetish!

My understanding was that Pak People have deep sense of honour....and they go to great lengths to avenge any slight.

Am I wrong in this understanding?

I can agree with you on this for sure! I have noticed one thing as well; we Pakistani's are great at running businesses however I have seen a lack of leadership skills in a lot of us. Cutting corners to make lives easier...
One example is I have seen a lot of people (in Pakistan) cut the signal and when you ask them why they reply by saying it's after 12AM... There are no more rules.
We question people taking "Rishwat" but we don't question the people giving.
Well that's enough of my rant. xD

I can relate to what you are saying; I have people in my family who have given the ultimate sacrifice for Pakistan and it would be dishonest of me to move on and forget about their struggles to keep Pakistan afloat. I know there are millions of Pakistani's who have done alot. I love the UK; this county has given me an education, an identity which I am no doubt proud of!
I refuse to give up my green passport as I don't have the courage to turn away from what great people of the nation have done. It will be dishonest of me if I do.

I am one in two hundred million people and I do not hold a major seat in any major establishment. As a citizen it is my duty to never take/give/accept any bribery, to never intentionally cause harm to my country. My duty is to make my country proud of what overseas Pakistani's have achieved in bringing a better name for the country. I assure you there are a lot of stereotypes out there and it is my duty to remove any doubt that people have about Pakistan. But again I am one in two hundred million people, who has no major role in the country. This is all I can do and if everyone in Pakistan started with the basics; not causing harm to the country, not accepting/giving bribes we would be one prosperous nation!

I am deeply saddened by the political situation in the country however I do welcome the change that we have seen in the previous months. No one should be allowed to hold office that cant follow the rules set out by Article 62 & 63.
