Would Pakistan support Iran in case Israel attacks Iranian Nuclear Facilities?

i agree - the next question is why did pakistan not help iraq when their nuclear facility was attacked and destroyed by IDAF. for that matter what about the other arab/muslim countries. they did not lift a finger. why do we have to take up the THEKA for the muslim world. we have enough problems of our own.

Couldn't agree with you more. Humne in sab countries ka theka nahin le rakha. They wouldn't come to our rescue so why should we?

I think we Pakistanis need to be more selfish and think about ourselves. There is nothing wrong with being a bit selfish.

We can have a good relationship with Iran by increasing our trade, but we shouldn't get involved in an Israel-Iran conflict.

. . . .
You are right. This is indeed a crucial question. Iran's inclination for pro-India policy is well known.

There's no reason why Iran can't be friends with both Pak and India. Come to think of it we need a common South-South defence pact. Here south-south refers to Latin America-Africa-Arab-Asia.

. . .
So this begs the question: Are they ANY unity among Muslim nations? Or do you guys only stick together during good times, but not bad times?

I don't think there is unity among Muslim nations and I don't expect there to be a big change in the near future. Two of the most powerful Islamic nations (Saudi Arabia and Iran) hate each other and consider each other to be a security threat. A nuclear Iran is as big a threat to Saudi Arabia as it is to Israel.

Shia Iran and sunni Saudi Arabi can't seem to get along. Both want regional dominance.

But Pakistan wants Afghanistan, isn't that right?

Iran never really helped or gave any problems to Pakistan.

Pakistan always had good relationship with Iran, but its not like the close friendly relationship we have with our other neighbor, China.

If tomorrow theres a war between India and Pakistan, Iran would not help Pakistan at all, they would most likely stay away from the conflict but still keep their economic ties with India.

Pakistan should not get itself involved between Iran and Israel, even if most Pakistanis hate Israel. Pakistan is going through too much these days and Iran never really helped us ever.

Sometimes a non-muslim friend like China comes more in handy than a Muslim friend like Iran.

I'm glad there are people who judge another on their actions/character rather than their religious affiliation. If a small nation attacks Pakistan we will assist (may not be direct fighting, may be food/supplies/arms/etc). If a large powerful country threatens Pakistan, I'm sure we will stand up for you. But please understand we can not get directly involved or else that will result in M-A-D, but we can support you in many other ways! :yahoo:  :china: :pakistan:

One clarification on F-86 transfer to Pakistan. Iran sold them to Merex Corporation of Germany (My former employer) by Iran who charged Pakistan an arm & leg for them. In fact during my employment with Merex during 1980-81, Mr. Gearhard Mertis, the President of the corporation told me how beneficial this deal was for the company.

On the other note, Qadeer Khan got in trouble because of not only Iran but Libya also who actually informed US that they were being helped by Pakisan.

It was a grand plan by Gen. Aslam Baig to help Iran but it actually backfired on us. Also we never helped Iraq because after Shah Faisal's murder, the ruling Baath Socialist Party was always pro-India. They even tried to destabilize Pakistan by providing arms to anti-state elements. I remember the incident at Karachi Airport when a large crate, being unloaded off an Iraqi Airlines for Iraqi Embassy, fell and broke, exposing the guns, rifles andother arms.

So much for our Islamic bretheren who even opposed Kashmiri freedom at every opportunity.

It seems everything in the Middle-East region (and nearby) is broken! No one trusts Israel. Saudi seeks regional hedgemony. Iran can't trust anyone. No one is brave or willing to protect Iraq. Eqypt is cowering under US/Israel. Libya has been 'defanged'. Pakistan can't depend on any muslim nation. India is wary of all her neighbors. Afghan is in tribal war with US. Somalia is in civil war.

When will this nightmare end???
