I call it a rape culture because it constantly floods the tabloids in ALL medias.
Funny you should mention Tiananmen square- The square has a glorious history but is only known by the International community for the 1989 incident. Many more people die in India every day for want of the most rudimentary of needs but that is hardly reported like the 1989 incident.

There is no culture of rape in India. If there was do you think people would be protesting and rioting on the streets or do you think they would just accept it and stay at home. And the only reason it floods the media is because the Indian media isn't afraid of the government unlike the Chinese who are scared at every moments. Seriously look on the Internet, there are more cases of sex scandals and rapes occurring in china then in India. AHMEDABAD: A good deed turned out to be deadly for the Thakor family. The family had sheltered a vagabond at its farm on Thursday night. The drifter killed three members of the family including two kids when he was confronted while trying to rape a woman. Villagers in the vicinity caught him and handed him to police. Police stated that the accused was earlier involved in three attempts to murder.

According to Viramgam town police, Ramesh Thakor, 27, a resident of Karada village in Surendranagar, was hired as a farm labourer by Munaf Ghanchi, a farmer with land near Balapir ni Dargah on Viramgam-Ahmedabad highway. Thakor was to take care of crops in the sowing season. For the purpose, Ghanchi had provided him with a hut in the farm. Thakor had brought his wife Lakshmi and sons Rohit, 5, and Tejas, 3.

The family was just settling down on Thursday, their second day at the farm, when a man came there on a bicycle. Ghanchi introduced him as Bachu Zina, a vagabond who sometimes worked as a labourer in the farm and took shelter in the hut when there were no occupants," said a Viramgam police official. "The Thakor family invited him for the dinner as it was being served when he came. The family members slept outside because the weather was good."

At 10 pm, Thakor was woken up by the screams of Lakshmi. He saw Bachu trying to overpower her. Enraged, he got up and assaulted him. Bachu then got a heavy sickle from his bicycle and slit his throat. As Lakshmi started crying, the two kids woke up and came near her when Bachu assaulted them and also slit their throats.

R B Prajapati, sub-inspector of Viramgam police, said that Bachu fled when he saw labourers from the other side of the farm approaching. "Lakshmi then went to residence of Ghanchi, who lives nearby, and informed him about the murders," the police official said. "Ghanchi and others soon started a hunt for Bachu and found him from near the village. We believe he has mental problems. In his statement, he has said that he was angry after being confronted."

What ever has happened is unfortunate and sad and we have already raised our voice,and thrashed the gove to grant harsher punishments to the culprits and to bring stronger laws , do u think without raising a single voice against any incident in china you guys have any moral right to judge Indians.
We have comeout in the open and protested against the goverment for speedy justice ,harder punishments to guilty and stronger laws.
